STEELE, N.D. — Three longtime incumbent Republican lawmakers will face challengers in the June primary after the district endorsed three newcomers, the latest example of division within the NDGOP. Incumbents Sen. Jerry Klein, Rep. Jon Nelson and Rep. Robin Weisz attended District 14’s endorsing convention in Steele on Sunday, Feb. 18, but did not seek the endorsement. District 14 Senate candidate Karisa Grothe and House candidates Larry Danduran and Jason Steidl made the case to about 250 attendees that they’re more conservative than the incumbents, who joined the Legislature together in 1997. Attendees voted unanimously to endorse the three newcomers,...

  • Why My Sundays Are So Lonely (and why I’d leave my husband for Matt Drudge or Jerry Klein)

    07/27/2008 2:04:46 PM PDT · by SilvieWaldorfMD · 41 replies · 309+ views

The difference between going through a Sunday as a married woman versus as a single gal is striking. First of all, in my single hood days in D.C., I’d be arriving back at my condo in the wee hours of the morning and would sleep and nurse a hangover for the rest of the day. As a married woman and mom in suburban Maryland, my Sundays are quiet and mainly consist of doing things with my family or around the house. However, during football season my husband and son normally get involved with sports and “NFL Sunday” for the whole day, giving me precious time to myself. During this “precious time”, I read the newspapers, watch news programs on T.V. and other media, and listen to talk radio for the entire afternoon and evening. Until recently.

  • Radio Combat: It Was A "Loud" Sunday Afternoon at 630 WMAL - Chris Plante & Jerry Klein - 2/17/08

From DCRTV: Sunday Afternoon Fireworks On WMAL - 2/17 - A DCRTVer tells us about "a nasty, dragged out, and loud blowout" between WMAL's Jerry Klein (on the political left) and Chris Plante (on the political right) during their program, "The Chris Plante And Jerry Klein Show," on Sunday afternoon. "It got so bad, that Chris walked out of the studio at one point." The topics were waterboarding, wiretapping, and terrorism. "It got very personal and downright nasty." The audio is not yet up at Chris Plante's audio page at wmal.com, but maybe soon.....
  • LIVE NOW - 630 WMAL's Jerry Klein asks a question about Muslims - Sunday, 12/30/07

Again, Chris Plante is OFF on this Sunday -- Gads! -- and Jerry Klein is taking over his hour from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Jerry will be on his own from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Jerry is the "pet liberal" at WMAL, the conservative-leaning news talk radio station in Washington, DC. Today he started the 2:00 p.m. hour with the news that a Giuliani staffer in NH stated that "Muslims should all go back to their caves" [paraphrasing], for which he was fired. Jerry asks if we (the listening audience) think that Muslims nowadays are more like Bhutto or like...
  • 630 WMAL's Jerry Klein's "Poinsettia Story" - Political Correctness Run Amok - 12/24/07

Jerry Klein is the “Pet Liberal” host of 630 WMAL, the conservative-leaning radio news talk radio station in Washington, D.C. During his Sunday show (yesterday) Jerry, who is also Jewish, narrated the story about how it came about that he does not accept poinsettias (as gifts or otherwise) during the holiday season. The story on how this happened starts years ago, when Jerry and his wife moved to a new neighborhood. The management of his new residence gave every resident a poinsettia as a gift, and Jerry, in so many words, accepted the gift but let management know indirectly somehow...

WASHINGTON (Dec. 1) -- When radio host Jerry Klein suggested that all Muslims in the United States should be identified with a crescent-shape tattoo or a distinctive arm band, the phone lines jammed instantly. The first caller to the station in Washington said that Klein must be "off his rocker." The second congratulated him and added: "Not only do you tattoo them in the middle of their forehead but you ship them out of this country ... they are here to kill us." Another said that tattoos, armbands and other identifying markers such as crescent marks on driver's licenses, passports...
