Howard Stern may be coming down with a Sirius case of the bleeps. High-level executives of the satellite broadcaster are developing an internal standards-and-practices document that will set boundaries for Stern and other shock jocks, The Post has learned. “It’s something that’s being taken very seriously," a Sirius source said. Stern's new show also is being broadcast on a time-delay, giving him the opportunity to censor the program — which he already has done. Stern moved to Sirius in part because satellite-radio services such as Sirius and XM — unlike free terrestrial radio — are not policed by the FCC,...

CURSES FOILED AGAIN FOR STERN By DON KAPLAN Howard Stern may be coming down with a Sirius case of the bleeps. High-level executives of the satellite broadcaster are developing an internal standards-and-practices document that will set boundaries for Stern and other shock jocks, The Post has learned. “It’s something that’s being taken very seriously," a Sirius source said. Stern's new show also is being broadcast on a time-delay, giving him the opportunity to censor the program which he already has done.

Howard Stern might have a new bone to pick now that he’s moved his risque show to Sirius Satellite Radio. And this time it isn’t with the Federal Communications Commission. The King of All Media is fighting some feisty subjects who don’t want to pay to hear the popular shock jock. Sirius and Stern’s production company, One Twelve Inc., fired off a cease-and-desist letter to at least one Web site that was rebroadcasting the radio host’s show — billed the “Show” — as an audio stream. The letter, which was e-mailed to the administrators of www.hearhoward.org and www.hearhoward100.com, called the...

Apparently, airplay ain’t enough anymore. Sirius Satellite Radio is exploring options to stream its imminent superstar Howard Stern on the Internet. Stern exits Infinity at year-end for a highly publicized $500 million five-year contract with the satcaster. Scott Greenstein, president of entertainment and sports for Sirius, said at the Reuters Telecommunications, Cable and Satellite Summit Tuesday (Aug. 9) that the company was looking for all ways to maximize Stern’s exposure. Stern already maintains his own Web site, howardstern.com, which contains a detailed programming companion that is updated daily. He also recently signed a deal with In Demand to televise his...

If there's a four-letter word or outrageous sex act that didn't get mentioned on Howard Stern's new satellite radio show, it wasn't for lack of trying. Words that once were bleeped on Stern's terrestrial radio program, previously broadcast in Chicago on WCKG 105.9 FM, flowed uninterrupted on Howard 101, the Sirius satellite frequency that's airing Stern's reincarnated show. And though it's true that the triple-X rated comedy bits and salty on-air patter didn't wholly define the program, the show unquestionably plunged more deeply than ever into material that many listeners would consider obscene. -snip- Yet this was just Day One...

Howard Stern began his new satellite radio show on Monday by putting to rest rumors that he got married to his longtime girlfriend, model Beth Ostrosky _ in a comment complete with a federally banned expletive. "I am not married. It's a nice feeling that we get along great. We're very happy and I don't want to (blank) it up," said Stern, who is finally free of government decency laws on Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. Stern has promised everything from stripper poles to live sex on his new show. But he used only a moderate amount of swearing and said...

The biggest gamble in the short life of satellite radio hits the table at 6 a.m. today, as Howard Stern starts what he calls his creative rebirth at Sirius. The most prominent morning host on commercial radio for 20 years, Stern joined Sirius because he says the FCC's vague content guidelines made it impossible for him to do his "real show" any more. Because satellite listeners pay a monthly subscription fee, like cable TV watchers, the FCC does not regulate content - though Stern's arrival has amplified calls for such regulation to be authorized. Stern's switch to Sirius, with his...

NEW YORK Jan 5, 2006 — Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. will give Howard Stern 34 million shares of stock worth about $220 million at today's prices because the company has met agreed-upon targets for gaining new subscribers under its 2004 deal with the shock jock. In a regulatory filing Thursday, Sirius said its subscriber count as of Dec. 31, 2005, exceeded the target it had agreed upon with Stern in October 2004, when it made a five-year deal with him. At the time, Sirius said its deal with Stern would be worth about $100 million per year beginning in 2006....

The company said it ended 2005 with 3.32 million subscribers, with a gain of 1.14 million net subscribers in the fourth quarter in the run-up to Stern's debut....

NEW YORK - The free ride for Howard Stern fans ends Friday. Stern, a New York radio fixture for 20 years and host of a syndicated show for 12 million daily listeners, bids farewell to his fans with a final show on terrestrial radio. On Jan. 9, Stern makes his move to satellite radio — where his once-free speech will cost listeners $12.95 a month. Stern, no surprise, will not leave quietly. He's scheduled a two-hour party in midtown Manhattan to say goodbye to his loyal listeners. And he plans to deliver an address to fans on his final show,...

A porn star, a mob daughter, music moguls, actors and thousands of Howard Stern loyalists are expected to gather today to give the self-proclaimed "King of All Media" an all-out radio send off. This morning, Stern says farewell to WXRK Radio (92.3 FM), his home for 20 years. It's his last show on broadcast radio before starting at Sirius Satellite Radio on Jan. 9. "I know terrestrial radio is dead," Stern told the Daily News recently. "If satellite radio takes off, and that's an if, and I think it will, there will be 30 million people subscribing by 2010. And...

The company recently distributed a raunchy 60-second trailer by email to about 825,000 Stern fans, as well as members of the media. Created with Havas's Euro RSCG Worldwide, the sexually suggestive trailer also has started running before R-rated films in selected movie theaters and will continue until Dec. 29. Sirius expects to be active in...

NEW YORK - They fade in and out like stations along the radio dial, some with more frequency than others: the reputed replacements for departing shock jock Howard Stern. There's David Lee Roth and Adam Carolla, Jon Stewart and Geraldo Rivera, Whoopi Goldberg and Danny Bonaduce. One or more could fill Stern's vacant morning drive-time seat in January, when the radio icon surrenders his syndicated kingdom for Sirius Satellite Radio. But it's time to face the truth, for better or worse: terrestrial radio may never see another Howard Stern. "He is irreplaceable," said Michael Harrison, founder of the trade publication...

Listeners are poised to flee terrestrial stations that currently air Howard Stern, once the high-profile morning jock heads to Sirius Satellite in January 2006. That’s the word, according to a new study by Bridge Ratings. A mere 5% of current Howard Stern listeners said that they intend to stick with their current Stern outlet; 41% listen only because of Stern and intend to seek other radio stations for their morning listening. “It’s clear by this study and it is no surprise that Stern’s fans do not intend to stick around once he leaves his current station address,” said Bridge Ratings...

March 2, 2005 -- Investigators looking into insider-trading allegations in the blockbuster deal between Howard Stern and Sirius Radio are checking out reported boasts by the shock jock's limo driver that he profited from the deal, The Post has learned. The announcement last Oct. 5 that Stern would ditch Infinity Broadcasting for Sirius sent shares of the satellite broadcaster skyrocketing. The next day, Stern said on-air that his driver, Ronnie Mund — known on the show as "Ronnie the limo driver" — bragged in the studio about how he had bought Sirius stock cheap before his boss joined the company....

Ratings and research company Bridge Ratings has conducted a study of Howard Stern listeners gauging their willingness to follow him to Sirius when his current Infinity contract ends. The survey found that over one in five listeners, or 22%, planned on subscribing to Sirius to continue to hear Stern. 41% were undecided, while 37% said they wouldn't subscribe. When asked if they knew what it cost to subscribe to Sirius, almost half (49%) of the listeners weren't aware, as compared to 39% who were. When told that they would have to pay for hardware and a monthly subscription fee, only...
