Howard Stern may be coming down with a Sirius case of the bleeps. High-level executives of the satellite broadcaster are developing an internal standards-and-practices document that will set boundaries for Stern and other shock jocks, The Post has learned.
Its something thats being taken very seriously," a Sirius source said. Stern's new show also is being broadcast on a time-delay, giving him the opportunity to censor the program which he already has done. Stern moved to Sirius in part because satellite-radio services such as Sirius and XM unlike free terrestrial radio are not policed by the FCC, which spent years waging an indecency war against him.

Howard Setern is a waste of electrons. And Oxygen.
Not really into him myself, but thought it was of interest. Ironic: he runs to satellite radio because he can say
anything he wants! Er... :)
AMEN
Stern must feel a terrible case of bait-and-switch coming on
$250 million of bait and switch might not be too painful.
So Sirius is really serious.
"...So Sirius is really serious...."
Or in the vernacular of FR, "So Sirius is really series".
I considered that one, but chose the one that rhymes instead ;o)
I know. Just wanted to use "series" once here. Loved your take on it, though. :>)
Not the only time that pun is being used! One of Boston's highest rated stations, WEEI (sports), has a morning show with Dennis and Callahan. They used to compete with
Stern--well, still do, but you now need a sat. radio to
get Stern. So WEEI is running newspaper ads with their
picture, saying,
"Pay For Radio--Are You Serious?" :)
Yup! By the way someone who has Sirius taped a couple of their stations and mailed it to me (Outlaw Country with
Mojo Nixon; blues). Not bad actually, and at least the
stations dedicated to a certain type of music are
ad-free (while others, like WSM streamed, do have ads).
The blues station played a song called "Stepped in WHAT?"
by Johnnie Johnson (Chuck Berry's piano player). I was
already familiar with it--a humorous song about people
stepping in dog crap. The DJ introduced it by saying,
"this song is cool s---". No bleep...well, a rather
mild profanity compared to other swears, but something
you still wouldn't hear on most terrestrial stations.
I love how Sirius was marketing this program as "Stern: Unleashed" or some BS like that in which they were like "catch Stern, completely uncensored." ha!
I don't know who they think they're pleasing though -- Stern should be banned from the airwaves, censored or not.
