<p>January 3, 2004 -- BAGHDAD - GIs raided a mosque in Baghdad, seizing a large cache of explosives, as enemy fire in central Iraq brought down a U.S. helicopter and killed the pilot. Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, a U.S. military spokesman, said yesterday troops had conducted the Thursday operation at al-Tabool mosque after a tip from Iraqis and netted a wide array of weaponry to be used against U.S. forces.</p>
