The teen shot and killed by a Jefferson Parish deputy sheriff in a Metairie warehouse late Tuesday (July 26) had attempted to fire his weapon but the gun may have malfunctioned, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said in a press conference. New Orleans police identified 15-year-old Ryan Davis as one of the suspected juveniles responsible for a string of armed robberies and carjacking across the city. Police said Wednesday (June 8) that detectives obtained a warrant for Davis' arrest. The gunman accused of shooting a bystander Friday told deputies he offered the victim a cup of water and $400, but did not call 911 or try and stop the bleeding. Jakell Ward, 21, was later arrested and now faces two counts of attempted murder. The man Ward allegedly shot, Brian Mortensen, was installing a fence in Ward's complex, Magnolia Court Condominiums, Orange County deputies wrote in a report. The suspect in last week's brutal slaying of three members of a northwest Washington, D.C., family and their housekeeper is in custody in northeast D.C., two law enforcement sources confirmed to News4. Police followed a white Chevy Cruze from Prince George's County into D.C. and took 34-year-old Daron Dylon Wint into custody on Rhode Island Avenue NE between between 11th and 12th streets, sources said.
