Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain had a terse exchange over border security in a Wednesday hearing on terrorism threats. McCain, R-Ariz., questioned Napolitano’s effectiveness at securing the border and enforcing immigration laws. Napolitano said illegal immigration is down and drug and gun seizures are up.

In the wake of last month’s DHS memo on how to create a de facto amnesty without congressional consent comes a similar “draft” proposal instructing local police to stop enforcing immigration laws. WASHINGTON – The federal government improperly posted an internal guide to its airport passenger screening procedures on the Internet in a way that could offer insight into how to sidestep security.
