Pinal County, AZ Sheriff Paul Babeu has been on the front lines to secure the U.S.-Mexico border against drug cartels and human smugglers, and now is the target of death threats as reported by KSAZ:
Outside law enforcements have been brought in to investigate the threats and have found them credible. Chief Deputy Steve Henry said some of the threats come from the Mexican mafia and drug cartel members. Sheriff Babeu declined personal security detail. He decided not to request funding for security detail at this time, because the county resources are already stretched.
The President insists "the border is as safe as it ever has been" but even if it's not Obama says there's nothing he can do about it anyhow as reported by Jordy Yager for The Hill: "our borders are just too vast for us to be able to solve the problem." If President Obama cannot secure his own homeland against pervasive organized crime -- the drug cartels have supply lines, distribution networks and operational cells in more than 230 cities throughout the United States, and they control the flow of illegal immigration along the same smuggling routes -- then his overseas effort in Afghanistan is doomed where the challenges are far greater and the enemy is far more fierce. The inability of the United States to win in Afghanistan conclusively is demonstrated by our failure to win the more important battle to secure our own border.

"Can't we all just get along?"
Thank You for posting this.
And the Justice Department thinks the LEO of Arizona are the criminals. There has to be something that can be done to stop the pols in the Justice Department, I wonder if the sheriff can sue for the JDs inaction at the border.
The narco terrorists regularly kill top law enforcement people, mayors and other gov’t officials in Mexico to send a message to them to back off. Surely they’d never try this in the USA. Right?
This sounds like something the feds might want to get into and offer protection. Nahhhh. Not with Holder and Bambi running the show. Maybe protect the illegals an give immunity when they bring their reign of terror north of the border
The Administration should be fined for every day they decline to perform their Constitutional duty to protect against invasion. Having Mexican Drug Traffickers stationed in our deserts guarding their supply routes is, in fact, invasion.
Put a clean kid and a dirty kid in a playpen and there is no way the dirty one ends up cleaner.
I suppose it would be pointless to request Eric Holder provide any kind of protection.
I wonder if Holder would sue the sheriff if he started
patrolling the border along his county line? Probably a good way to look out for any potential hit men crossing over.
Border Insecurity Ping
I agree. What if the Murdering Mexican Cartels gets on of the LaRaza folks to kill this Sheriff. Will the Justice Department blame that on the Law?
That Sheriff needs extreme protection. Like you said, the Cartels are already controling the desert.
Time for this brave man to get a posse together.
>>”What if the Murdering Mexican Cartels gets on of the LaRaza folks to kill this Sheriff.”<<
Could happen easier than you think. They have embedded themselves into 230 of our largest cities, not to mention the one that just got appointed to the Supreme Court.
If anything happens to this man it would be the duty of our pres__ent to launch an all-out invasion into Mexico and kill every member of these cartels and the so-called “Police Force” that protects them.
The southern border of Pinal County is 80 miles north of the international border...
That makes it sound even worse if drug gangs are threatening a sheriff that far from the border. The gangs would have to be pretty active in that area to think the local sheriff was a threat to their overall operations.
You’re absolutely right.
Armed Mexican gangs/drug-runners have moved into the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge and the BLM has posted warning signs telling people to stay out of the area due to the presence of interlopers there.
It was all over FR last week...
