PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh police said a 12-year-old boy was stabbed inside a McDonald’s in Downtown Pittsburgh Saturday afternoon. Police said they arrested 51-year-old Charles Edward Turner in connection with the stabbing. He’s facing several charges, including criminal attempted homicide. The child was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A criminal complaint states that a doctor upgraded his condition to stable. Homeless advocates reported this week that the coronavirus pandemic has pushed the New York City shelter population to record numbers, according to CBS New York. The advocates described the numbers as “astronomical,” saying that for the first time, the number of single adults sleeping in Department of Homeless Services shelters has grown to more than 20,000. “That includes an all-time record of 15,369 single men — and a near record of 4,841 single women — in October, the latest statistics available,” the article read.

I'm just sharing here. For about 6 months I've known a particular middle aged man (who happens to be black) through a friend and a loose-knit network of friends. This man has had a very rough life because of bad personal decisions and is now homeless with four bags with everything that he owns in them. LOS ANGELES, California — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti blamed “institutional racism” for homelessness on Friday, though liberal California is one of the only states in which homelessness has been rising. Garcetti was addressing a press conference to discuss the city’s progress in reducing homelessness during the coronavirus pandemic. “Institutional racism is a leading cause of homelessness in Los Angeles. In Los Angeles County, where 8 to 9 percent of the population is African American, a third of all people experiencing homelessness are black.”
