President Trump on Saturday went after New York and California over homelessness, saying the states' governors should call him if they "can't handle" the issue. "California and New York must do something about their TREMENDOUS Homeless problems. They are setting records!" he tweeted about the liberal states. "If their Governors can’t handle the situation, which they should be able to do very easily, they must call and 'politely' ask for help. Would be so easy with competence!" the president continued. As reported by the LA Times, according to data recently released by the Department of Finance, CaliforniaÂ’s population growth rate for the year ending July 1, 2019, was the lowest the state has experienced since 1900. Estimates indicate the Golden StateÂ’s population grew by 0.35 percent over the course of the year (or by 141,000 people), down from 0.57 percent for the previous year ending July 1, 2018. CaliforniaÂ’s growth in population was buoyed by the net difference between births and deaths in the state, which amounted to 180,800 people. However, this number was tempered by net losses in migration,...

Everyone’s on drugs here . . . and stealing,” an ex-felon named Shaku explains as he rips open a blue Popsicle wrapper with his teeth. Shaku is standing in an encampment of tents, trash, and bicycles, across from San Francisco’s Glide Memorial Church. Another encampment-dweller lights a green crack pipe and passes it around. A few paces down the street, a gaunt man swipes a credit card through a series of parking meters to see if it has been reported stolen yet.

Please FReep this IF you agree and help me get the signatures I need to move this petition forward. I just returned from a trip to Albuquerque, NM, and they are covered up in homeless people --- some of which are freezing to death on the streets in their harsh winter. They were put on buses and shipped there. https://www.newmexiconewsport.com/are-other-states-sending-their-homeless-to-abq/ I have heard of this happening in other places as well.

Next month, more than a dozen women are set to move into a blush pink Craftsman home in the Koreatown area. They’ll be the first residents in the county’s first publicly funded “bridge” shelter for homeless transgender women. The shelter is named for Zulma Velasquez, a former staff member with APAIT, a behavioral health and HIV/AIDS service provider, who died in August. Velasquez used to host weekly coffee talks called “Cafecito with Zulma” at APAIT’s office in Koreatown with queer and transgender community members to discuss the issues they face. Jake Weinraub, a clinical program manager with APAIT, which will...

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson on Monday accused Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., of lacking “basic manners” over a letter she sent to President Trump last month saying his “shamelessness knows no bounds," according to a report. Waters’ Oct. 28 letter demanded answers about the administration’s potential plan to push homeless Californians off the street and out of homeless camps, Politico reported. “Shamelessness," Carson wrote, "is a career politician of 30 years laying blame. Shamelessness is allowing more than 55,000 Americans to live on the very streets they represent,” he said about her district in South Los Angeles County....

Liberal policies in San Francisco are inflating California's homeless crisis and driving longtime residents out of the city, former mayoral candidate Richie Greenberg said Thursday. Appearing on "Fox & Friends" with co-hosts Brian Kilmeade and Ainsley Earhardt, Greenberg said that as the state government has moved farther and farther to the left over the years -- adapting socialist ideals -- the homeless population has only grown.

It’s one thing to read about the decline of San Francisco. It’s another to see it for yourself. I could hardly recognize this once-captivating city of breathtaking views, delectable food and cool jazz. Today it’s occupied by an army of homeless men and women who have turned Baghdad-by-the-bay into Bombay-by-the-bay with some of the dirtiest slums in America. I first visited San Francisco in 1964 as a member of Barry Goldwater’s political team that wrapped up the Republican presidential nomination for the candidate who offered a conservative choice, not a liberal echo. Then, we freely roamed the streets and hills...

The "progressive," so to speak, vision of politics and public life envisions tighter and tighter government control over economic life, along with looser and looser controls over human behavior. I think you'd refer to the overall design as a paradox: a clash of methods and objectives. Elizabeth Warren wants corporations subjected to unprecedented government oversight. Austin's and San Francisco's ruling classes favor, for the homeless, just about all the freedom you could imagine to use the public streets as a bedroom or restroom, in the name of, I don't know ... liberty? Liberty for those who avail themselves of these...

Big Tech and the other multinationals are exacerbating the problem of homelessness in Washington state. For these stateless corporations are the major importers, into King County and the surrounds, of a high-tech, feudal elite, thus compounding the homeless quagmire. The corporations who straddle the globe rely on immigration ignoramuses to perpetuate the single-cause theory of homelessness: addiction or mental illness. However, even if drug addiction and mental illness are seen as necessary in causing homelessness, they are seldom sufficient. Substance abuse and mental anguish can, in themselves, be the consequence of other exogenous, existential and intractable circumstances. Like being priced...

For complete transparency, I’ll state up front I completely support this effort to recall Governor Gavin Newsom. As a California resident, I’ve seen the dysfunction from our elected officials and the radical progressive ideas they push. As an American, I understand the need to fight Democrats tooth and nail, especially when their leadership has been as disastrous as it’s been in California. Erin Cruz is leading the effort to launch a recall vote against the Governor. We endorsed her campaign two years ago and we support this effort today. Newsom’s policies, from endorsing the sanctuary state status to removing parental...

The Trump administration plans to deliver a notice of environmental violation to San Francisco over its homelessness problem. President Trump said late Wednesday the notice would come from the Environmental Protection Agency. He said waste, specifically used needles, in storm sewers is contributing to ocean pollution. He added: “They have to clean it up. We can’t have our cities going to hell.” In a statement, San Francisco Mayor London Breed said the city has a sewer system that runs effectively, keeping debris from reaching the Bay or the Pacific Ocean.

The television images of homeless adults, tent cities, discarded drug paraphernalia, and filthy conditions in America’s urban landscapes are shocking. The homeless people in these scenes didn’t grow up saying, “I can’t wait to become an addict and live on the street.” Clearly, several things went wrong over the course of their lives. For many living on the streets, the path to homelessness started early, with childhood trauma and adverse experiences. For example, in Santa Clara County, just south of San Francisco, 78 percent of homeless adults grew up in a household with a person with drug or alcohol dependence;...

Since the ultra left governments of Los Angeles and San Francisco can't bring themselves to do what's necessary to address the crisis of homelessness in California, the Trump administration may end up doing it for them.CBS Los Angeles: The White House is reportedly looking to become more actively involved in homeless crisis in California. We’ve covered a number of stories here dealing with the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles which has been out of control and growing for several years now. Most of these tales have to do with drug addiction, mental illness, crimes committed both by and against the homeless and people using the streets as their bathrooms. But there’s another, even darker element to this story featured in the LA Times this week. As it turns out, the homeless are not just living on the streets. They’re dying on them and in large numbers. On average, nearly three homeless people are...

One downtown business owner says he may start closing early to keep employees and customers safe...In June, the Austin City Council changed the homeless ordinances to allow sitting, lying and camping in more public spaces, including sidewalks. Staley says that's when one homeless man moved in. “All his belongings are right here up against our patio and we can't do anything about it. We can't. The police can't,” said Staley. The patio on Congress Avenue was designed as a shady spot for tourists and locals to grab...
