Attorney General Eric Holder told an audience in Paris on Monday that he and President Barack Obama are committed to battling corruption as "one of the great struggles of our time." Holder, addressing the 35-nation Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development, said the World Bank estimates that more than $1 trillion in bribes are paid out each year. "Put simply, corruption undermines the promise of democracy," Holder said. "It imperils development, stability, and faith in our markets. And it weakens the rule of law."

A New Jersey hospital is denying accusations that ACORN workers have been inside collecting absentee ballots for the state's gubernatorial race. East Orange General Hospital CEO Kevin Slavin said Tuesday that "all proper protocols" were followed as part of its program to allow patients to vote via absentee ballot, and that no third-party groups were signing up patients. Voting machine malfunctions may delay election results from four towns in New York's 23rd district, reports the Johnson News Service. The breakdowns, in Louisville, Waddington, Rossie and Clare, happened earlier today on new voting machines, according to the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections deputy commissioner.
