Bo nose porcupine butt. It’s been a surprisingly rough year for Bo Jackson, and none of us knew. The mythic athlete has been dealing with a legendary case of hiccups, and since July of 2022 he’s been hiccuping non-stop. Talking to a local radio show on Wednesday, Jackson revealed that he’s been doing everything to try and get rid of these hiccups — including getting a live porcupine and getting a big ‘ol whiff of its butt. “I have done everything — scare me, drink water upside down, smell the ass of a porcupine, it doesn’t work.” Bo is now having...

President Joe Biden urged Americans on Thursday to be patient as the Colonial Pipeline restored fuel deliveries. “Let me be clear, we’ll not feel the effects at the pump immediately,” Biden said. “This is not like flicking on a light switch.” The president delivered remarks on the gas shortage at the White House, warning it would take “several days” to get gas supplies back to normal. “There may be some hic-hic-hiccups — like I just had,” Biden said with a chuckle, laughing with reporters as he stumbled over the word. The president also urged drivers to ration their own use...

Hat Tip: karinsue 1 A woman went to the emergency room where she was seen by a young, new doctor. After about 3 minutes in the examination room the doctor told her she was pregnant. She burst out of the room and ran down the corridor screaming. An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was. After listening to her story he calmed her down and sat her in another room. Then the doctor marched down the hallway to the first doctor's room. "What the hell's wrong with you?" he demanded. "This woman is 68 years old, she...

To: Admin Moderator Glad you brought FR back up. However, a really annoying quirk surfaced about a full week before the site went down, and persists now. It appears as if every thread is re-posted as a new thread, as many times as the number of replies to it. This makes it very difficult to scan the site quickly for breaking news. The multiple threads ("hiccups") are not affected by my Account settings, Page Layout, or anything else under local control here. If this is an experiment in "Bumping to the Top," please revert back to the normal method of...

She was diagnosed with chronic hiccups in October 2008 and visited gastric, ear, nose and throat, and lung specialists before a cure was finally found. She said she was kicked out college where she was training to be a nurse because she was ‘disruptive’ to the class. She said: ‘I was trying not to be. I just couldn’t stop hiccuping.’ Another time, during the eulogy at her friend’s mother’s funeral,...

Tadpoles take blame for human hiccups Why do we hiccup? It's a question that has vexed great minds for millennia and now, at long last, an international team may have come up with the answer. Hiccups are sudden contractions of the muscles we use to breathe in. Just after the muscles start to move, the glottis shuts off the windpipe, producing the characteristic "hic" sound. Surprisingly, ultrasound scans reveal that babies in the womb start hiccuping after two months, before any breathing movements appear. That suggests that hiccups in adults are just the remnant of some primitive reflex, which occur...
