What's obvious here is that Mueller is floundering, scruffing around for a mandate to justify all of his millions spent on the investigation which ha He will probably indict more people, and that will please the left, but what's going on here isn't exactly about justice. Allen's dismay with the pathos of what the investigation has become is a sure sign it's time to shut the whole thing down. Mueller won't of course, because he needs to show justification for his enterprise. What the rest of us can see is that if he won't do it, President Trump is going...

Democrats Call for New Direction From Rubber Stamp Republican Congress In two years, Republican-controlled 109th Congress has done nothing for American people Washington, D.C.—Yesterday’s release of three pages of the National Intelligence Estimate that state plainly that the Bush Administration’s failed strategy in Iraq has increased the threat of terrorism and made America less safe lays bare the need for a Congress that won’t simply rubber stamp failed White House policies. Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Democratic leaders from House and Senate today joined to call for a new direction. From Iraq to the...

The CIA leak prosecutor refuses to turn over evidence to Lewis Libby. Watchers of the CIA leak investigation are buzzing over a series of letters between prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and lawyers for former Cheney chief of staff Lewis "Scooter" Libby. In the letters, contained in motions filed recently by Libby's defense team and released by the court, Fitzgerald steadfastly refused to reveal whether he has any evidence that Bush administration officials violated the Intelligence Identities Protection Act, the Espionage Act, or any other law by revealing the identity of CIA employee Valerie Wilson. Libby is charged with perjury and obstruction...

Remember Joseph Wilson? Valerie Plame? Probably not. They had a moment of fierce media notoriety a few months ago. The full story has never been told, but they're not in the news anymore. The Washington press corps apparently decided that respecting one journalist's dubious secrecy pledge outweighed any professional duty to get to the bottom of a nasty, and potentially explosive, instance of deceit and reprisal. Wilson was the retired career diplomat sent by our government to West Africa last year to look into reports that Saddam Hussein's Iraq had been trying to buy uranium for weapons. Wilson reported that...
