They’re adults. They had to be told this? It wasn’t part of their upbringing? I know that most EPA workers are urban liberals, but were they raised in barns? Management for Region 8 in Denver, Colo., wrote an email earlier this year to all staff in the area pleading with them to stop inappropriate bathroom behavior, including defecating in the hallway. In the email, obtained by Government Executive, Deputy Regional Administrator Howard Cantor mentioned “several incidents” in the building, including clogging the toilets with paper towels and “an individual placing feces in the hallway” outside the restroom. Confounded by what...

Environmental Protection Agency workers have done some odd things recently. Contractors built secret man caves in an EPA warehouse, an employee pretended to work for the CIA to get unlimited vacations and one worker even spent most of his time on the clock looking at pornography. It appears, however, that a regional office has reached a new low: Management for Region 8 in Denver, Colo., wrote an email earlier this year to all staff in the area pleading with them to stop inappropriate bathroom behavior, including defecating in the hallway. In the email, obtained by Government Executive, Deputy Regional Administrator...

If You Think Communism Is Bad For People, Check Out What It Did To The Environment (And it's not a coincidence or accident of history) When pressed by Twitter critics earlier this month over the horrendous human rights record of his chosen ideology, Jesse “#FULLCOMMUNISM” Myerson struck back with this tweet: 'Jesse A. Myerson @JAMyerson If I have to answer for Soviet gulags, these market/capital twits have to answer for climate collapse, the greatest genocide in history. 8:44 PM - 3 Jan 2014' In addition to being an advocate for an ideology directly responsible for tens of millions of non-war...

BEING GREEN! Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this 'green thing' back in my earlier days." The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations. She was right - our generation didn't have the 'green thing' in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent...

Algae suit generates food to feed your constant hunger When we think of futuristic fashion, our minds often lean toward the minimalist designs of Star Trek or Tron. But maybe what we wear in the future will have more to do with what we eat than what we want to look like. That's the premise behind the algaculture symbiosis suit designed by Michael Burton and Michiko Nitta. The symbiosis suit is designed to make food for you as you go about your daily routine. A number of tubes, placed in front of your mouth, harness the CO2 you breathe and...

Almost half of applications for onshore wind farms were rejected last year, as local communities unite to oppose turbines amid concern about their noise and affect on the landscape. Freedom of Information figures showed 32 applications out of a total 66 for onshore wind farms were turned down for planning permission last year, the lowest number of successful applications since 2005. In 2009 a third of applications were refused and in 2005 it was just 29 per cent, according to the figures obtained by the commercial law firm McGrigors. Countryside campaigners say the rise is prompted by growing fears of...

Obama's 'Beast' Creates Stir at NATO Green Summit (Nov. 20) -- World leaders attending the NATO summit in Lisbon, Portugal, zipped around in zero-emission electric vehicles. Journalists covering the event hopped aboard electric buses to get from venue to venue. And President Barack Obama's eight-ton, diesel-fueled armored limousine dubbed "the Beast" drew even more attention than usual. Lisbon newspapers dedicated pages of coverage to the vehicle, with charts featuring every detail that the Secret Service is willing to divulge -- like the special foam in the gas tank to extinguish any fire from a direct hit, and the supply of...

Going Green Makes Neighbors Go Blind Glare from solar panels on an East Bradford roof is blinding neighbors By TERESA MASTERSON Updated 4:31 PM EDT, Wed, Aug 18, 2010 Some residents in East Bradford, Pa. claim to be blinded by the light – but in this case, it is no godsend. A homeowner on Muirfield Drive has covered his roof with solar panels. In theory it is an energy-saving, environmental dream. In reality, the glaring roof is an eye sore – literally. "We can't walk out the front door because the sun blinds us. We have trouble navigating in our...

I ride my bike to work. It seems so pure. We're constantly urged to "go green" -- use less energy, shrink our carbon footprint, save the Earth. How? We should drive less, use ethanol, recycle plastic and buy things with the government's Energy Star label. But what if much of going green is just bunk? Al Gore's group, Repower America, claims we can replace all our dirty energy with clean, carbon-free renewables. Gore says we can do it within 10 years. "It's simply not possible," says Robert Bryce, author of "Power Hungry: The Myths of 'Green' Energy." "Nine out of...

The Girl from 'Impeenema' A TV ad campaign in Brazil urges folks to urinate in the shower to conserve water ... and save the rain forests. No matter how long we stay in or what kind of showerhead we use, we all have unique shower routines and rituals, some more complex than others. The Brazilian environmental group SOS Mata Altantica, via a cute, kid-oriented TV ad campaign called "Xixi no Banho," suggests that citizens add one more task to their soaping-up, shampooing, conditioning and shaving routines — peeing. The group believes that by adding a yellow stream to the morning's...

Nevertheless, as the Republicans faded into irrelevancy, the free market was at work. Even before Obama and the Democrats could get their first environmental bill on the table, the USA was changing. The current regime’s environmental plans are irrelevant. They will be passed into law, but they are irrelevant nevertheless. America has opened its eyes. America has awakened. America will lead.
