Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) raged at Republicans lawmakers on the House floor for opposing an aid package to Ukraine before Saturday’s vote. The House passed a $61 billion aid bill for Ukraine amid the country’s current war with Russia. Lawmakers also passed other bills providing assistance to Taiwan and other U.S. allies. Hardline conservative lawmakers opposed the bipartisan legislation by arguing the money should have gone towards security at the U.S. southern border. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) worked with Democratic lawmakers to bring the aid bills to the floor and ensured it’s passage. Connolly responded to those complaints by noting...

On Friday’s broadcast of CNN International’s “Quest Means Business,” Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) stated that “There has to be a better way” for Israel to fight Hamas after the October 7 attack and that “Israel is expert at tracking down known terrorists years after an event.” Host Richard Quest asked, “So, how far would you support the U.S. putting further pressure on Israel? And, we’re all aware, of course, whether it be military, economic, or whatever, that, so far, the screws have not been turned that tight. Do you favor more?”

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) stated that “Hunter Biden’s being subjected here to a level of, not only scrutiny, but accountability, that most mere mortals would not.” And “Often,” people in public life “get no corners cut at all. They’re going to have the book thrown at them,” while also arguing that Attorney General Merrick Garland is “ensuring objectivity and fairness and transparency in the process.”

Xuan Kha Tran Pham, 49, was arrested after the attack at Gerry Connolly’s office in Fairfax. Held without bond, Pham faced charges of malicious wounding and aggravated malicious wounding. Police said the man is suspected in a separate attack a short time earlier Monday. A man later identified as Pham approached a woman parked in her car about five miles from Connolly’s office and asked the woman if she was white, then hit her windshield with a bat and ran away, according to police. The woman wasn’t injured. Pham’s father, Hy Pham, told the Washington Post his son was schizophrenic...

Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA) proposed stripping J. Edgar Hoover's name from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) headquarters building in Washington, D.C,, and called him a "maligned character" with a history of racism, homophobia and misogyny. On Saturday, Connolly appeared in a video message on MSNBC's The Cross Connection advocating for the change after he introduced legislation to remove the former FBI director's name on February 25...

House Democrats proposed legislation this week that would give more than 2 million federal workers an 8.7% pay raise in 2024, a raise they say is needed because they suffered through both the COVID pandemic and the Trump administration. "For years now, federal employees have risked their health and safety working on the frontlines of this pandemic," said Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., who sponsored the bill. "They were subjected to the Trump Administration’s cruel personal attacks, unsafe work environments, pay freezes, government shutdowns, sequestration cuts, furloughs, and mindless across-the-board hiring freezes." "Still, our federal workforce serves with dedication and distinction...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Nearly three dozen House Democrats are pushing the administration to get tougher with Saudi Arabia, calling it a bad strategic partner after it has refused to help ease the world’s oil supply crunch during Russia’s Ukraine invasion. Rep. Gerry Connolly, a Virginia Democrat and senior member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Rep. Jim McGovern, a Massachusetts Democrat and chairman of the Committee on Rules, led lawmakers in a letter asking Secretary of State Antony Blinken for a “recalibration” of the U.S.-Saudi relationship. The Saudi Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for...

Looks like we've got quite a match-up today. Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly is practically screaming at Rep. Jim Jordan and lecturing him about bipartisanship and conjuring old thought of former President Donald Trump. Connolly was throwing down the verbal hammer at the GOP, specifically Rep. Jordan and it just seemed to go literally nowhere. It was like Connolly got mad and just wanted to yell at someone. Rep. Connolly got loud, saying he would “not be lectured by people,” who voted in hopes of overturning the 2020 presidential election that Trump lost to Biden.

Thursday on CNN’s “Right Now,” Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) said President Donald Trump criticizes his predecessor former President Barack Obama because it “eats away” at Trump that Obama “added luster to the presidency.” Keilar asked, “The president referenced former President Obama several times yesterday when he had this extended Q & A session on the south lawn with reporters. He blamed him on a variety of topics. He does this a lot, but there seemed to be this uptick of it yesterday. Why do you think he does that? Connolly said, “Well, I think the contrast bothers him. President Obama...

Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan blasted House Democrats for pushing a "false narrative" during an explosive hearing in which he clashed with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Gerry Connolly and others. Speaking Friday before the House Oversight Committee hearing, Homan delivered a fiery defense of border agents, pushing back against Democrats' claims about conditions at detention centers along the border. In particular, Connolly, D-Va., blasted the Trump administration for "hardly humane care" being given to migrant families. "If you don't like this, do your job. Fix it," Homan told lawmakers.

Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly on Thursday threatened jail time for White House officials who are declining to comply with congressional committees' efforts to conduct oversight of President Donald Trump's administration. Three officials have refused to comply with congressional requests to testify at the administration's urging, ratcheting up the long-brewing battle with House Democrats ready and willing to take their multi-front investigations to the courts. The House Oversight Committee had asked to hear from senior White House adviser Stephen Miller on immigration, former security official Carl Kline on security clearances and Justice Department Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Gore on...

Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., defended colleague Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., amid criticism over tweets that were widely condemned as anti-Semitic. On Sunday, Omar suggested on Twitter that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s support for Israel was bought by groups like AIPAC. Her tweets were swiftly condemned on both sides of the aisle, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other top Democrats. Appearing on CNN, Rep. Connolly refrained from criticizing Omar and instead invoked Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, for his controversial remarks defending terms like “white nationalism” and “white supremacy.”

Senator Markey has announced his support for the Iran deal that will let the terrorist regime inspect its own Parchin nuclear weapons research site, conduct uranium enrichment, build advanced centrifuges, buy ballistic missiles, fund terrorism and have a near zero breakout time to a nuclear bomb. There was no surprise there. Markey had topped the list of candidates supported by the Iran Lobby. And the Iranian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC) had maxed out its contributions to his campaign. After more fake suspense, Al Franken, another IAPAC backed politician who also benefited from Iran Lobby money, came out for the...

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) said Monday that Fox News should fire Sean Hannity following the revelation that he is a client of President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen. Hannity has frequently covered stories about Cohen — including the FBI raids on the New York lawyer's home, hotel room and office last week — without revealing his own connection. “I think he is so into this like a pig in the mud he can’t get out of it. And I think he deserves to be fired. His word can never again be trusted,” Connolly said on CNN. Connolly said Hannity’s involvement...

Americans who live outside of the nation’s capital should understand the District of Columbia is “sacred ground,” according to a Virginia congressman who represents a district that is among the wealthiest in the country thanks largely to its heavy concentration of highly paid federal workers. Rep. Gerry Connolly told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (HOGR) Wednesday that Congress may need to “educate” people on why federal departments and agencies should be centralized on the “sacred ground” of D.C. Connolly, a Virginia Democrat, made the comments as the committee debated a House resolution encouraging federal agencies to relocate...

A heated argument erupted Thursday at a hearing on the IRS, with Democrats and Republicans trading charges about the work of the Oversight Committee. Two Democrats on the panel accused their GOP colleagues of repeatedly holding hearings on the IRS for political reasons. In his opening statement, Oversight Committee ranking member Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) complained that the hearing was the 23rd held about the IRS in recent years. "Unfortunately, Republicans have become obsessed with investigating any and every allegation relating to the IRS, no matter how small," he said. He said Republicans are frustrated that they have never found...

"[But] when people said, 'Well, can't we work that out administratively by adding resources, delegating certification, maybe even collapsing all of this into a more expedited, accelerated process across the board?' The answer wasn't, 'Well, no, statutorily we wouldn't be able to do that.' The answer was, 'We don't have the staff.' "That's just a matter of mechanics, it's not a matter of principle or statute," [Rep. Gerry] Connolly [D-VA] said. "And that's not a good enough reason for me to vote no. And I think a lot of the other Democrats felt the same way." The Obama administration's eleventh-hour...

In the final hours before the House votes on a new leadership-concocted scheme to sneak Obamatrade past the American public, it’s been revealed that pro-Obamatrade forces are now aiming to sneak a renewal of the highly controversial Export Import Bank into the deal to secure Senate passage later if the House passes it on Thursday. “I and all the other members there are looking for a guarantee … for a deal to be good it’s got to have enforcement, TAA, I think it’s got to have Ex-Im reauthorization,” Sen. Tim Kaine, a Democrat who’s angling for this in the deal,...
