Also, the current Gov and Lt Gov are R’s so the likely replacement will now be an R.
House Reps don’t get appointed by the Governor. Thats only Senators. The seat will be vacant until they hold a special election.
Turbo cancer hits again.

House vacancies are filled by election, not appointment.

Right now with the latest death, it stands at 220 R - 212 D.
There is no provision for a tie-breaker like in the Senate with the VP, so a tie is the same as a bill getting voted down.
Therefore, if it ends up 216-216, it’s a loss.
So you still need 217 of 220 R’s to vote for it as opposed to 218 if there was a full complement in office presently.
That was pretty fast.
Gee, wonder why?
At least it took an old scumbag this time.
What’s the math if certain Reps vote present or not at all. I imagine there are other representatives that are incapacitated and don’t show up.
Thanks, I was not aware of that
Wasted his entire life. Never had an actual job. A rude smart ass. Glad he’s gone, but Fairfax county will elect another grifter idiot.
Esophageal cancer or cancer of the food pipe is an aggressive cancer. In most cases, esophageal cancer is a treatable disease, although cure rates are low.
According to the National Cancer Institute, the five-year survival rate in patients with proper definitive treatment ranges from 5 to 30 percent. However, it depends on several factors, such as the stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis and the overall health of the patient.
Patients with very early stage disease have a better chance of survival. For those who undergo curative treatment, 40 percent will survive one year or more, 15 percent will survive up to five years and 10 percent will survive 10 years or more. It depends on the stage of cancer and how quickly it was detected. Prognosis based on the stage of the cancer is
Stage I: Five-year survival is 55 percent
Stage II: Five-year survival is 30 percent
Stage III: Five-year survival is 15 percent
Stage IV: Sadly, many people don't live beyond a few months to maybe a year
When the cancer has not spread outside the esophagus, surgery may improve the chances of survival. When the cancer has spread to other areas of the body, a cure is generally not possible.
Overall, esophageal cancer is considered an extremely aggressive cancer that has a poor prognosis compared to other malignant ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract. The common treatment options for esophageal cancer are
Is that a safe Rat seat?
I’m sure it’s a moral flaw in my character, but the first emotion I feel when I hear that a politician has died is happiness when it turns out to be someone who votes against us and sadness when it’s one of the good guys. Vote counting is my first thought. Hoping they didn’t suffer comes next.
The district is pretty much in NoVa - govt workers and illegals.
During his time in Congress, Connolly only had one close race back in 2010.
Our chances of winning a special election are not great in that district.
Vote is counted based on those in attendance and available to vote. A “present” vote serves as an abstention and does not count toward the amount needed to determine a winner/loser.
For example, if we have 432 available to vote, and three vote “present” then you need a majority of 429 (215) to pass the bill.
House Reps don’t get appointed by the Governor. Thats only Senators.
Cancer has been second highest killer of Americans even before Ronald Reagan was president. I did not know turbo cancer was present during Reagan era.
What are the factors leading to esophageal cancer?
The old mock anyone who questions the vax tactic. Why should anyone not trust Big Pharma, they are your friend.
