At least one person is dead after central Vermont was pummeled by severe flooding. The remnants of Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall in Texas Monday, unleashed torrential rain across the Northeast. Between two and six inches of rain fell, leaving some communities fighting against surging floodwaters. Flood rapids wreaked havoc, prompting road closures and causing widespread damage. Plainfield officials say at least seven bridges were taken out. Residents of a six-unit apartment building had just 15 minutes to evacuate before the entire structure was swept away. One person died in the Peacham community, according to Vermont Governor Phil Scott.

Federal, state and local officials are focusing their efforts on a voluntary evacuation of Dakota Dunes and a levee construction project across Interstate 29 near McCook Lake as they continue responding to historic rainfall and flooding in southeast South Dakota that has claimed at least one life. Gov. Kristi Noem led a press conference Sunday in North Sioux City. She shared news of the death but declined to provide any information about the person, circumstances or location, other than saying the death was related to flooding. “Because of respect for the family, I’m not going to share any details around...

Floodwaters forced people out of their homes in parts of Iowa, the result of weeks of rain, while much of the United States longed for relief Saturday from yet another round of extraordinary heat. Sirens blared at 2 a.m. in Rock Valley, Iowa, population 4,200, where people in hundreds of homes were told to get out as the Rock River could no longer take rain that has slammed the region. The city lacked running water because wells were unusable. Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo said a state helicopter was on its way to help but was called off when boats were...
  • Wealthy beach lovers left devastated as they're forced to slash price of luxury seaside homes by MILLIONS: 'It's unbelievable' (only 6.64 years left)

Wealthy beach lovers are left devastated as they're forced to slash prices of their luxury seaside homes by millions due to climate change. Climate experts believe the rise in sea levels and unforgiving storms, intense rainfall and coastal flooding and erosion are the culprits putting homeowners in a precarious position - and the unpredictability of it all. The areas with some of the priciest real estate that have been hit the hardest include, Dana Point, California, to Long Island, New York, and Nantucket, Massachusetts, CNBC reported. In September, a beach front home on Nantucket that listed for $2.3 million, fell...

Another out-of-season storm is brewing near Hawaii and is likely to deliver much heavier rain than the first, as an atmospheric river will become involved, AccuWeather meteorologists warn. A storm locally called a Kona Low, which is a storm in the middle levels of the atmosphere, brought rounds of rain to parts of the islands from late last week to Mother's Day weekend. Up to several inches of rain brought localized flooding to Oahu and Kauai. Earlier this spring, another Kona Low brought tremendous rainfall and flooding to part of the island chain. In a matter of hours, the storm...

The United Arab Emirates and neighboring states were rocked this week by the heaviest rains on record, which resulted in devastating floods, dozens of deaths, significant damage, and diverted flights. A government meteorologist indicated early on that the UAE's well-known geoengineering efforts were at least partly to blame. However, now that there is a body count, the government task force responsible for cloud-seeding missions in the region is attempting to deny responsibility. Liberal media outlets such as the Guardian and Wired and so-called experts have dutifully accepted these denials, insinuating that climate change or other factors may instead be responsible....

Desperate locals are appealing for aid from the government, with one heartbreaking video showing a young boy from Orenburg whose home was flooded begging Vladimir Putin for help. Concerns are growing over the potential spread of deadly diseases following severe flooding in Russia and Kazakhstan, resulting in bodies being washed out from their graves. Widespread displacement was reported along the border region between Russia and Kazakhstan, with hundreds of thousands having to abandon their homes. Many residents are pleading for aid from Vladimir Putin amidst these desperate conditions and an apparently slow response from official sources. Desperate locals are appealing...

The desert nation of the United Arab Emirates attempted to dry out Wednesday from the heaviest rain ever recorded there after a deluge flooded out Dubai International Airport, disrupting flights through the world's busiest airfield for international travel. The state-run WAM news agency called the rain Tuesday “a historic weather event” that surpassed “anything documented since the start of data collection in 1949.” That's before the discovery of crude oil in this energy-rich nation then part of a British protectorate known as the Trucial States. Rain also fell in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. However, the rains were acute...

Richie DeVillier steered his boat around floating carcasses. His son leaned over the edge of the boat, holding a calf's head above the floodwaters as they tried to lead the shell-shocked animal to higher ground. Many of the living cattle they had found so far would not survive the next few days. Their bodies were already bloated from standing in water for so long, the coarse black hair sloughed away in patches. The DeVilliers lost about 60 of their 300 cows and calves, plus seven horses. Russia said that reports of proposals to flood the tunnels were shocking and warned that "if done, this will be a war crime." "Such flooding could be considered analogous to 'do not spare them' order, but it is not only about that and not only about civilians who may be in those tunnels," the statement read. "Of course, there most likely will be civilians, for where else would they go from the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza." Over the last two months, Russia has repeatedly condemned Israel's actions in Gaza, with Vladimir Putin initially blaming the Hamas attacks in Israel as...

Israel is considering flooding Hamas’ vast network of tunnels beneath the Gaza Strip with seawater pumped in from the Mediterranean Sea. The operation is intended to drive out fighters hiding inside the terror group’s subterranean passageways, according to a report citing U.S. government officials. In November, Israel constructed five seawater pumps near the Al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza. The machines are capable of moving thousands of cubic meters of water per hour and could flood the tunnels within weeks, reported The Wall Street Journal. The reaction from the White House was mixed, with some officials fearing the impact on any...

Panic-stricken Californians raced to escape mudslides and climbed trees to safety from dangerous floodwaters as historic Tropical Storm Hilary barreled through the region, leaving scenes of devastation in its wake. The Golden State’s first tropical storm in 84 years, Hilary drenched some areas with more than half an average year’s worth of rain, creating dangerous driving conditions that caused multiple vehicles to spin out of control, and in some cases, even crash. Harrowing video shot on northbound 5 Freeway in Castaic, Los Angeles County, shows multiple vehicles fishtailing and hydroplaning on a flooded road, as reported by KTLA. A white...

(NEXSTAR) – Residents of the northeastern U.S. saw firsthand this summer the devastation flooding can cause in a community. Unfortunately, scientists predict flooding will only become more common as the years go on. A map created by Climate Central, an organization of scientists and journalists focused on studying the impacts of climate change, shows what the future may hold for coastal communities as sea level rises.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Millions of Americans in the West and South will stay trapped under a dome of heat, while a system of storms is set to dunk the East with severe showers and flash flooding through the end of July. In a heatwave smothering the western third of the country through the end of the month, some spots are already reaching record high temperatures. A separate pattern will keep showering rain along the East Coast..

Widespread flooding is expected to continue saturating parts of New York through Monday, as videos emerged of heavy rain showers in Hudson Valley submerging vehicles and turning one roadway into a waterfall. Most of the heavy flooding will swamp areas north of the five boroughs — spanning from Albany to the Canadian border east along I-87, Fox Weather meteorologist Christopher Tate told The Post. “All of the rain is going to be funneling into the Champlain Valley in Vermont and causing a real problem for folks in Vermont and northeastern New York,” Tate told The Post. Regions north of Yonkers...

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Saturday he will request a Major Disaster Declaration for Broward County due to the catastrophic impacts of unprecedented flooding in Fort Lauderdale. The announcement comes 10 days after heavy rainfall caused historic flooding that damaged countless homes and left residents reeling in the devastation. DeSantis' request comes after Florida Democrats criticized his response time and claimed he went missing in action while people in Broward County suffered.
