As a fan of horror films whose wife doesn't share my affection for them, I'm encouraged to watch movies when I travel on business if I ever get a free evening. Tuesday night was just such a night, and there were options. First, there was a 7:40 showing of Evil Dead Rise. I enjoy most things of the Evil Dead franchise, so I figured this would be the option. But I also noticed there was another intriguing movie playing at this particular Southern California movie theater that I'd never heard about, called Nefarious, at 7:20. I checked out the trailer....

A 3D animated short film about not too distant but a dystopian future. It speculates on the potential consequences of the infamous Great Reset, medical tyranny, woke culture, and green agenda. Sean Patrick Flanery and Jordan Belfi in Nefarious I don’t do movie reviews because I don’t watch very many movies. I have a handful of movies that I dust off for semi-annual viewings (The Man Who Would Be King, Zulu, The Wind and the Lion, Master and Commander, Patton, We Were Soldiers Once, and Black Hawk Down among them), but movie-going is just not my thing. It seems like that when I do go out; my wife has chosen a movie, like, for instance, Father Stu and The Passion of the Christ. When we do find a non-woke and non-morally...

For Alexandra Pelosi, the brutal attack on her father earlier this year was a culmination of vitriol that had been building for decades. Her family’s name, she says, has been weaponized for years, turned into a curse word for Republicans. **SNIP** The bubbling political rhetoric that led to that moment is chronicled in a new documentary premiering Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. The film, “Pelosi in the House," directed and produced by Alexandra Pelosi, the youngest of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's five children, follows the elder Pelosi’s career over three decades. **SNIP** “There’s a thread from the very...

Come on, man … Those who have found the scandals surrounding the Bidens — and not just Hunter — fascinating will find themselves amused by this irreverent comedy My Son Hunter. “None of this is true,” Gina Carano informs us while playing a Secret Service protection agent, “except for all the facts.”The new offering from Breitbart Films, Phelim McAleer, and director Robert Davi places tongue firmly in cheek for most of the proceedings. Very early on, a drugged-out Hunter (Laurence Fox) encounters a small dog at an orgy, who proceeds to warn him via thought bubbles that maybe he’s getting...

Harrison Ford has played some of the most memorable and iconic characters in the history of cinema. Han Solo, Indiana Jones and Rick Deckard in the Bladerunner films despite making their first screen appearances, decades ago, and still remain audience favorites. In addition to the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Blade Runner series, Ford has starred in many hugely successful films, such as The Fugitive, Air Force One, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger. But the downside of superstardom is that some among Ford’s efforts were dwarfed, not because of their lack of eminence, but because of the tendency...

A Japanese filmmaker is shaking Cannes film audiences to the core with a dystopian vision of her country in which old people agree to be euthanized to solve the challenge of a rapidly aging population. “Plan 75” by Japanese director and writer Chie Hayakawa is based on a very real problem. Japan is the most rapidly-aging industrial society, a trend that is causing huge economic and political problems as a dwindling number of younger people must support a growing army of the old. Close to 30 percent of Japan’s population is over 65, the majority women, and that rate is...

Throughout history, many dictators have expressed their admiration for the cinematic medium. While some have it as a tool to spread propaganda, others have marvelled at the magic of the movies. According to many reports, Adolf Hitler was also a cinephile and one of the films he allegedly watched multiple times was directed by none other than Charlie Chaplin. In fact, many historians have discovered that Hitler’s idea about war was deeply informed by the cinematic medium since he mostly experienced it through newsreels and documentary clips that were shot on the battlefields. In addition to those, Hitler’s close associates...

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich.—A new movie by conservative activist Dinesh D’Souza exposing illegal vote trafficking in battleground states in the 2020 election opened in more than 250 theaters on May 2.A capacity crowd of about 200 people filled a theater in Macomb County, Michigan, to view D’Souza’s documentary motion picture “2000 Mules.”The film can be viewed online starting on May 7.The documentary used cellphone signal tracking, digital geo-fencing, and video surveillance tapes of absentee ballot drop boxes to show that paid intermediaries called “mules” unlawfully gathered and delivered hundreds of thousands of absentee ballots in Democrat strongholds across much of the...

“The art made by Christians today is not only not beautiful, but tends to be among the ugliest art that mankind is producing,” screenwriter and professor Barbara Nicolosi-Harrington said during her talk to the students and faculty of Christendom College on May 2. Nicolosi’s talk, entitled Why Hollywood Matters, explored the challenges facing Christians in the art of cinema and the art in churches. “We have sacrificed the beautiful to other things,” she said. A professor at Pepperdine University, Nicolosi is the founder of Act One, an organization that seeks to nurture the next generation of Christian artists and media...

French actor Gaspard Ulliel, best known for playing Hannibal Lecter in "Hannibal Rising," has died at the age of 37 after a skiing accident in southeastern France. Back in April, my colleague Duke wrote about “The Chosen” and how meaningful the Christian streaming series has been on his walk as a believer in Christ (see Come and See: The Best Show Ever About Jesus Christ, The Chosen)At the time, the series’ second season had just launched. He wrote:Thank the Lord that during this time I found a show about the life of Jesus Christ and His Apostles called “The Chosen” and it is one of the best things I have ever watched.Ever.In the history of my limited time in the world. The concept is incredibly simple but altogether unique....

It is no secret that the Oscars are decided upon by a coastal cabal of predominantly old white men who dictate their emails. That’s why male vets, attractive young women, and sentimentalist fare like Green Book keep taking home the gold. The Academy that votes on the Oscars is also comprised of people in Hollywood who are total suckers for self-worship. In the last decade alone, three films celebrating Tinseltown have won Best Picture—including Argo, wherein an aging Hollywood producer joins forces with the CIA to rescue diplomats during the Iran hostage crisis. One industry that Hollywood has always viewed...
