The last time there was a Chicago disaster, Jackson showed up to comfort the injured and make sure the authorities knew it was only an accident and not caused by his friends, the owners. Now it seems Jesse is MIA, guess the killed and injured were just too white to be a concern for the good reverend. Guess you just have to pick your disasters.

I just checked the NYT bestseller list here: http://www.nytimes.com/pages/books/bestseller/ Hillary is #1 in hardcover non-fiction Ann is nowhere on the list Harry Potter is not on any of the lists either. Maybe someone can tell me how they do their bestsellers, but I can not believe that Rodham-Clinton is #1, Ann is nowhere and Harry Potter is not ANYWHERE on their lists!

A couple of years ago I read a novel about the "peacetime" 82nd Airborne (I think) of the '80s. Took place in Ft. Bragg and Panama. Painted a somber picture of the peacetime military including drug abuse and corruption (stealing munitions for the local black market), but also captured dead-on life in the field, as well as the esprit de corps among the young soldiers. Kind of smacked a bit of Robert O'Connor's "Buffalo Soldiers..." Ring any bells? TIA Nahbi

A Valedictorian Address on Liberty, License, and the American Dilemma--By Senator Dan Coats Dan Coats—a popular Indiana Republican in the prime of his powers—is voluntarily retiring from the U.S. Senate this month. Following is our adaptation of a recent speech in which he suggests a course for America in the testing times ahead. Today, people throughout the world are inspired by the hopes of America’s Founders. But we should also be instructed by their fears. In 1819 John Adams asked Thomas Jefferson, “Will you tell me how to prevent riches from being the enemy of industry? Will you tell me...

Please everyone let me know if It's just a wierd glitch on my computer. Please put this web address in your browser and see what you come up with http://www.rightwingnuts.com It comes up as the Free Republic web site. I happened to be searching for a funny conservative website that I saw today while I was at work. I forgot the whole name of it and just was doing it thru my browser and not by the search engine. I knew it had the words right wing in it so I was playing around and this freaky thing happened. Is...

Of course I am not asking how to read the dials. What I want to know is: How can I translate the rate of rotation of the rotor into a rate of energy consumption? The rotation rate would be proportional to watts. I am guessing that one rotation is about 14 watt-hours. Am I right?

I just got an email alert from Newsmax. In it they claim Hillary's book is fizzling and mock that she never made #1 on Amazon. Coulter never made #1 on Amazon either, which is due primarily to Harry Potter, which no book, especially political science has a chance of topping. I think Newsmax needs to cool it a bit. I am surprised they let this kind of spin slip out. They keep saying "Hillary's book is fizzling, Hillary is fizzling!" Just give it up. People are going to buy both Hillary's and COulters book. It's a fact of life. Why...

I was at the Taste of Chicago a couple of nights ago, a huge event that attracts a half black, half other crowd. This nine-member, black band got surley with the cops because the cops said they had to let passers-by take their photograph. The next thing I knew seven of the nine were in handcuffs, lying on the ground with big white cops sitting on them. There must have been 20 cops, and only one of them was black. This kind of racial difference between the sides could have sparked a riot. Could it be that Daley (whom I...

Does anyone else watch the Boomerang Cartoon Network? It is ran by the original cartoon network, however they show cartoons from days gone by. I am 31 years old and they show Popeye(Not very politically correct!), Thundarr the Barbarian, Quick Draw McGraw and the like. I encourage everyone to check it out if they can. This is my first post, but I think it's a good topic for a 3 day weekend!

After the recent rulings from the SCOTUS, it seems AA and beastiality are now the official law of the land. Please someone, anyone, convince me that it matters anymore who sits on that JOKE of an institution, the SCOTUS. Abortion will never be struct down, or left to the states where it belongs. I used to vote Republican because of the power to put decent judges on the benches thru out the US. It seems I don't have to vote that way anymore, the issues I care about look like they are set in stone. Too bad the Libertarians are...

My book club had the Queen Noor book slated for the next reading and though reluctant, I did my duty and read it. Though incredibly dull, I was none the less shocked

I know that Cheney has said that he will be the candidate again in 2004, but how do you people feel? Who do you think should be the candidate and why? I don't know if this has been discussed or not because I just signed up two weeks ago. If it has, just ignore this.

To hear my fellow conservatives talk, the end of the recent Supreme Court term is the first chapter of the end of Western civilization. After all, the Court did decide to walk away from the ideal of equal protection. At the same time, the Court said that one of the few areas of morality that Christians, Jews and Muslims could agree couldn’t be the basis for laws. Conservatives have screamed at the death of democracy, that an unaccountable Council of Nine now reigns supreme. Of course, there is nothing we can do but scream. Even presidential candidate Richard quickly backed...

Okay, I've seen now two blatantly anti-semetic posts about kosher labeling on food today. Did we simply get hit by a couple of pranksters or is there something larger going on? What's this 'vox aztlan' or whatever it is that is publishing this tripe?
