What are your reasons on why we should not help to rebuild Iraq?

Are there anyone else here who think John McLaughlin should hang it up? For the past year or so, he seemed really confused with current events and topics on his show The McLaughlin Group. On his show today, he actually quoted Jac Chirac (the chief weasel in the axis of weasels) as his source of someone who didn't believe that Saddam had any WMDs. With all due respect to the question of our intelligence gathering, the trustworthiness of Chirac is just not something anyone should rely on, being the duplicitous anti-American weasel that he is (my apology to weasels). What's...

Do you remember "Read my lips"? President George H. W. Bush was, arguably, defeated on the issue of credibility. He promised no new taxes, saying "Read my lips, no new taxes". And he broke the promise.Although it doesn't involve a promise, President George W. Bush may be creating his own credibility problem. How serious will it get? Will it threaten his reelection? I don't know. The Medicare prescription drug bill appears to be a classic case of false advertising. The bill was sold to the American people and congress with an advertised price. Now a few short weeeks later, the true...

I cancelled AOL for the first time in June, 2003. It took forever, because you have to call them on the phone, and they don't answer the phone. They sent me a nice letter with a cancellation number.Unfortunately, they kept billing my credit card.I appealed the charge, and in October, 2003 they sent me another cancellation letter with a NEW cancellation number.Of course, they kept billing the card.So I asked Amex to open a fraud investigation, and the billing stopped, or so it seemed. This month, for the first time, a charge for AOL service appeared on ANOTHER credit card of...

Hello everyone. I hope your New Year is going well so far.It has been a while since we had a reminder about what the Smokey Backroom is all about, and we have been getting a sense that some don't really know what it is about. As you all know, we have guidelines against personal attacks and flamewars. We try to keep things within those guidelines, but face it, sometimes discussions get tempers up and things get heated. Sometimes, the cure (pulling comments, suspending, and banning) can be worse than the problem. Sometimes an alternative cure is better-- letting those who are...

Fifth Edition of The Lexicon of FreeRepublic, culled from the original thread and subsequent editions. Thanks to the many Freepers who contributed! FreeRepublic Glossary Alpha Freeper - Top tier Freeper who can post most anything and draw dozens of replies from other alpha Freepers. Anti-Freeper - See Freeper Lore. Hi, I'm fairly new to FR, and there are some terms I'm confused about. I have an idea, but I want to make sure I have it right. Bump-does it stand for anything? Ping-Pass it on to the next guy? Any other FR terms I should know?

I have a wireless network connection in my home. I bought a Linksys wireless router and it works fine (the wireless part) (except my cable provider stinks). My questions are about configuring the network, security features, etc. Right now I am running right out of the box.I am interested in learning what all the bells and whistles are. Most importantly I want to know about the security features and all that. Here are some of the words or lingo I have no idea about:Network AuthenticationData EncryptionWEPWPAWPA-PSKAESTKIPSharedOpenad-hoc networkIEEE authenticationprotected EAP This is just a start. I have no idea about what any of...

Sorry for the short vanity post, but I'd like to know why we can't spend a few minutes toying with the idiot trolls? "I am awake" - who was just zotted - wasn't even on the board a couple of minutes and then was gone. We appreciate your policing of the trash so quickly, but we'd really enjoy grinding them up for you first. Please? Just a few minutes next time. Thank You.

For the last few days whenever I try to bring up www.FreeRepublic.com I get a message asking me if I want to open or download the file "/" from "FreeRepublic[1]." Obviously I can get here by using other pages but this has diminished by Freeping experience. Anyone else have this happen and any idea what it's all about? And yes I'm fairly certain I'm logged on.

I've been hiding under my bed with my shotgun since last evening. Is it safe to crawl out yet? Will Chris Shays apologize? Do y'all know how hard it is to type a vanity when one is ensconced under one's bed?

What are the best online stores that sell bush and conservative items? I am looking for everything ranging from bumper stickers to rally signs and t-shirts. I have a teenage republican club and we will need to get some gear (espcially if it is not too much money)... Thanks all
