Russia's defence minister said on Tuesday his forces had thwarted the first three days of a Ukrainian counter-offensive, alleging that they had killed or wounded more than 3,700 Ukrainian soldiers. Unusually, Sergei Shoigu read a statement himself rather than leaving it to the ministry's regular spokesman. "In the past three days, the Ukrainian regime launched a long-promised offensive in different sectors of the front," Shoigu said. He said Ukraine had suffered 3,715 casualties over three days, as well as losing 52 tanks and 207 armoured vehicles.

What is the difference between faith in the invisible God and fantasy? Or the difference between faith and presumption? The lines that separate faith from fantasy and presumption can be fine, but they are definite, and they are clear. Failure to recognize those lines can be the difference between life and death, between truth and error, between a solid, fruit-bearing walk with the Lord and spiritual deception.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday that Russia is prepared to take the war in Ukraine as far as its border with Poland. Medvedev, who is now deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, made the remarks in a statement on his Telegram channel on the one-year anniversary of the country's invasion of neighboring Ukraine. Russia must "push back the borders that threaten our country as far as possible, even if these are the borders of Poland," he wrote. In his lengthy post, Medvedev said he believed Russia will be victorious in the war. "It's been a year since...

Bold Colour Image depicting the Solar System (NASA) Since the landmark discovery in 1992 of two planets orbiting a star outside of our Solar System, thousands of new worlds have been added to a rapidly growing list of 'exoplanets' in the Milky Way galaxy. We've learnt many things from this vast catalogue of alien worlds orbiting alien stars. But one small detail stands out like a sore thumb. We've found nothing else out there like our own Solar System. This has led some to conclude that our home star and its brood could be outliers in some way – perhaps...

Oil and the many products made from it have literally and figuratively transformed the world beyond all recognition. However, as we are constantly reminded, crude oil is not in infinite supply. After all, it took millions of years to "brew". RelatedWhat Would Happen If the World Ran...

Database latency -- a geeky term, but that’s how they did it! A policeman pulls over a speeder. The police computer reports that three hours ago a similar vehicle and person held up a liquor store -- so the police are on alert. No database latency. County election managers change the zip code of 31,000 voters on September 3. Ballots go out that week. Those 31,000 are undeliverable. Someone collects those valid ballots. On September 15th, those addresses are quietly changed back. National Change of Address Database (NCOA) will not pick up those address changes. They didn’t happen because there...

For years, the Russian government has been attempting to create an 'Iron Man'-type of suit for battle. This had remained all talk, but in recent years, this world superpower has appeared to have started testing the use of exoskeletons on the battlefield with Ukraine. Even prior to recent Russian media announcements about their hope to build a superhuman exoskeleton for soldiers, giving them the ability to both carry more weapons and have more stamina, Russian powers had been rumored to have testing out a suit of armor that would make Star Wars fans nostalgic. Russian media stated that artillery forces...

Rep. Val Demings (D-FL) said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) is living in a “fantasy land” after the senator alleged during Tuesday night’s debate that five million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since President Biden took office. “Congresswoman Demings says that what’s happening at the border is nothing unusual,” Rubio said. “We have 5,000 people a day crossing the border. You know how many people have entered our country illegally since Joe Biden took over as president? Five million,” Rubio said, noting that two million have come into the country in the last 12 months, 80 of whom are on...
