Most supporters of Nikki Haley in the swing state of North Carolina admitted their vote for was more “against” an opponent rather than “for” their candidate of choice, according to a CNN exit poll. The CNN exit poll asked respondents in the state if their vote for president was mainly “for your candidate” or “against their opponent.” Interestingly, most Haley supporters, 70 percent, said their vote for president was mainly “against their opponent.” Meanwhile, most Trump supporters, 80 percent, said their vote for president was mainly “for your candidate.”

With polls closing across Israel, exit polls published by Channel 12 News show that the Likud party has won 37 Knesset seats while the Blue and White party has won 33 seats. The Joint Arab List won 14 seats, Shas nine seats, United Torah Judaism seven seats, Yamina seven, Labor-Gesher-Meretz seven, and Yisrael Beyteinu six seats. According to the exit poll, the right-wing bloc received 60 seats, one shy of the 61 majority necessary to form a coalition. A Channel 13 News exit poll also showed the right-wing bloc winning 60 seats. The poll also found that the Likud won...

Exit poll projects center-left party will win Swedish election, far-right party with white supremacist roots coming in second. STOCKHOLM (AP) — An exit poll indicated that Sweden's first general election since the Scandinavian country accepted a significant number of asylum-seekers was likely to have the center-left party governing now as its winner, but an anti-immigrant party with white supremacist roots placing second in balloting Sunday. Public broadcaster SVT said immediately after polls closed that its exit poll indicated the ruling Social Democrats would remain Sweden's largest party, but making its worst-ever showing with 26.2 percent of the vote. The exit...

Paraphrase: If the exit poll is correct, the four center-right parties will total 88 seats in the new parliament, and the center-left and left parties 81. This result is in doubt because it cannot yet be said with confidence that the two smallest center-right parties will make the 4 percent threshold when the counting of the actual vote is This result is in doubt because it cannot yet be said with confidence that the two smallest center-right parties will make the 4 percent threshold when the counting of the actual vote is completed.

"I don’t think there’s ever been two more unlikeable candidates,’ said Michael Che during the Weekend Update sketch on Saturday Night Live this week. “Not one time in this election have I heard anyone say: ‘You know what? I like them both.'” The data from the Exit Polls conducted by Edison Research for the National Election Pool show Mr. Che to be correct – an extremely small portion of the voting public (only 2%) told our exit pollsters they had a favorable view of both. While most voters did have a favorable view of one of the two major candidates...

The National Council of La Raza says there is no way more Latino voters supported Donald Trump than supported former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in 2012. According to exit poll data, Trump received 29 percent of the Latino vote, compared to the 27 percent Romney received in 2012. While Trump lost the Latino vote Tuesday night, his 36 percentage point margin of defeat among Latinos was also smaller than Romney’s 44 percentage point loss to Barack Obama. La Raza, however, says that exit poll data is incorrect. ...more...
  • Reuters/Ipsos Exit Poll: 3 in 4 Think Economy ‘Rigged’ for ‘Rich and Powerful,’ Want ‘Strong Leader’

(REUTERS) Americans who had cast their votes for the next president early on Tuesday appeared to be worried about the direction of the country, and were looking for a “strong leader who can take the country back from the rich and powerful,” according to an early reading from the Reuters/Ipsos national Election Day poll. The poll of more than 10,000 people who have already cast their ballots in the presidential election showed a majority of voters are worried about their ability to get ahead and have little confidence in political parties or the media to improve their situation. A majority...

The dust may still be settling on the 2012 election, but there is good reason for conservatives to find optimism for the future. Recently, I found such hope reviewing the full exit poll data from our recent election. The bottom line on the presidential race was this: Mitt Romney lost the election because voters liked him less than Barack Obama. Despite claims otherwise, the election was not a referendum on Obama’s record or even red state values versus blue state values. Obama and the Democrats have claimed a “mandate,” but the data shows voters actually oppose President Obama’s programs like...

I know you're polled out, but with all the navel-gazing today about demographics and the future of the GOP, I figured people might want a link to the numbers behind last night's disaster. Here's CNN's version, Fox News's version, and WaPo's version, which breaks the trend lines down by arrows. (Mouse over for the numbers.) Noteworthy: The sample does apparently include respondents from all 50 states. There was some question about that after news broke last month that the exit pollster would exclude voters in 19 states, but WaPo reported at the time that that was only true of individual...

NEW YORK - Warren Mitofsky, a survey researcher who pioneered the use of exit polls to cover elections and helped develop the sampling method used in most modern telephone polling, has died. Mitofsky, who was 71, died Friday in New York City of an aortic aneurysm. Joe Lenski, Mitofsky's partner in exit polling for the last two national elections, confirmed his death Saturday. Mitofsky started conducting exit polls in 1967 for CBS News and developed the projection system and analysis system used by CBS and later by a consortium of news organizations that conducted national exit polls. "He was the...

NEW YORK (AP) - The top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee has asked The Associated Press and five broadcast networks to turn over raw exit poll data collected on Election Day so that any discrepancies between the data and the certified election results can be investigated. Rep. John Conyers Jr. of Michigan said in a letter released Tuesday in Washington that the polling firms that conducted the polls on behalf of the news organizations, Mitofsky International and Edison Media Research, had declined to share the information with the committee. "Without the raw data, the committee will be severely handicapped...

NEW YORK - The consortium of news organizations that runs the election exit polls has voted to delay distributing data for several hours on future election days. Exit poll data will not be distributed until after 4 p.m. ET to the organizations that have paid for it: ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel and The Associated Press, NBC’s elections director, Sheldon Gawiser, said Thursday. On Nov. 2, the companies conducting the polls, Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International, distributed the first wave of exit poll data at 1 p.m., and the numbers were immediately leaked on the Internet and...
