WASHINGTON - If Senate Democrats could enact their plan for Iraq, how many American troops would remain there? That’s not a question to which Democratic leaders gave a precise answer Tuesday.

Is anyone listening to Chavez speaking about hte U.S to the U.N.? Do you see the smiles and laughter of those listening? I am so angry, wish we could cut off all U.S. aid to all those countries they represent. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. We really do live in a very dangerous world, much like it was just prior to WW II.

PROVO — Former congressional hopeful John Jacob pushed to make illegal immigration the key issue of last week's Republican primary in the 3rd Congressional District, but exit poll results show the issue polarized voters in favor of his opponent, Rep. Chris Cannon. Rep. Chris Cannon, here speaking last Tuesday awaiting election results, won 55.8 percent of the vote. "Really what you see here is there's a very conservative contingent on issues like immigration, but there just aren't enough of them to elect a very conservative candidate," said Quin Monson, assistant director for the BYU Center for the Study of Elections...

With almost all the votes counted the conservative opposition in the Czech Republic was in sight of winning the country's general election. Both an exit poll and declared results give Mirek Topolanek's Civic Democrats a victory margin of varying degrees. He has already declared victory. The poll showed that together with their preferred partners, the Christian Democrats, the conservatives would control 104 of 200 parlaimentary seats. Despite presiding over fast economic growth the ruling Social Democrats, led by Jiri Paroubek, have been undermined by corruption scandals. Party leaders expressed the hope the final outcome might reverse the early findings and...

WASHINGTON, Nov. 29, 2005 – "Quitting is not an exit strategy" for Iraq and would open a Pandora's box of risks to the American people, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld told Pentagon reporters today. "It would be a formula for putting more American people at still greater risk (and) an invitation for more terrorist violence," the secretary said. "Indeed, the more the enemies make it sound as though the United States is going to quit, the more encouraged they will be," Rumsfeld continued. "And the more successful they will be in recruiting and in raising money and in trying to...

Once you get there, you stay there. That could well be the one timeless truth about Congress. For the 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, re-election is one of life's certainties. The possibility of a lifetime job - a job with no shortage of power, perks and prestige - also explains much about the mad dash that began Wednesday, with the unexpected announcement by Republican Rep. Jim Kolbe that he will not run for a 12th term in 2006. "These opportunities don't happen everyday," said Rep. Raúl Grijalva, a Tucson Democrat. Open congressional seats are indeed among the...

Take the debate to the Dims on our terms, it is not about a phony exit strategy, it is about why they so desperately want the terrorists and Al Queda to win in Iraq. We know that the Democrats want an "exit strategy", they must be asked: Why they are opposed to Democracy in Iraq. Why they are opposed to protecting an infant Democracy in Iraq. Why they are so desperate to give the insurgents and the terrorists a timetable, that only helps the enemy. Why, at every juncture when Democracy improves in Iraq and when the success of the...

There have been conflicting reports about the timing of American troop withdrawals from Iraq. Gen. George Casey, commander of U.S. forces there, has announced that the United States intends to begin a "fairly substantial" withdrawal of U.S. forces after the projected December elections establish a constitutional government. Other sources have indicated that this will involve 30,000 troops, or some 22 percent of U.S. forces in Iraq. Some high-level statements from Baghdad have indicated that the beginning of withdrawals may be delayed until next summer. On either schedule, progress is dependent upon improvements in the security situation and in the training...

Sat, July 9, 2005 Time for Alberta to exit, stage right? LINK BYFIELD A University of Alberta professor I know sent me a lengthy article he's trying to get published, entitled: "Let's get while the getting's good." In it, Leon Craig, professor emeritus of political science, lays out a case for Alberta to declare unilateral independence. And he lays it out well. Craig makes no bones about it. Alberta, he says, should go it alone. Almost overnight, we would become one of the most prosperous nations in the world. But -- and this is his key point --...

Up to the Challenge A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released after last night’s speech by President Bush shows a very positive response to his message. 74 percent had a “positive reaction” to Bush’s speech. 63 percent now feel Bush has a “clear path” for Iraq, compared to 56 percent before the speech.

Better training of interviewers to get a proper sample of voters after they cast ballots will be key to improving the performance of exit polls, one pollster who handled the 2004 election surveys said Saturday. Exit polls on Election Day 2004 overstated support for Democrat John Kerry overall and in many key states, which led to widespread confusion that day about the election eventually won by President Bush. The exit polls contacted more supporters of Kerry than of Bush because of "the failure of interviewers to follow the selection rate," said Warren Mitofsky, who conducted the exit polls along with...

It is time to ponder the strategic impact of the casualty figures. Those that are relevant to this analysis are widely familiar. The U.S. has lost approximately 1,500 dead in military action and 10,000 wounded, and we continue to lose, dead, about 50 soldiers every month. The Iraqis (using loose counts) die and are wounded at about ten times the U.S. rate. Moreover, the Iraqi deaths have increased substantially since the national election in January. We know philosophically that all deaths should be counted equally, since we are all God’s children. But it isn’t surprising that U.S. concern should focus...

Bubba, the 23-pound-lobster that got front-page treatment today after a seafood store spared its life, died at about 3 p.m. today at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. The cause of death is not yet known, but the lobster did not eat since his transfer yesterday from Wholey's in the Strip District to the aquarium in Highland Park, the zoo announced.

LONDON (Reuters) - U.S.-led forces could leave Iraq within 18 months, Iraqi interim Interior Minister Falah al-Naqib told Britain's Channel 4 News Sunday after Iraq's election. "I think we will not need the multi-national, foreign forces, in this country within 18 months," he said. "I think we will be able to depend on ourselves." Election officials said turnout had been higher than expected in Sunday's elections despite attacks by insurgents bent on destroying the poll. At least 35 people died in assaults across the country. President Bush (news - web sites), under pressure to start bringing troops home after the...

learned that this afternoon at Colby College in Waterville, Maine Mitofsky International head Warren Mitofsky has stated on record that the National Exit Poll he conducted for the major media networks show no sign that Voter Fraud is the reason for the often criticized 1.9% error that national exit poll produced. This confirms a report made by Jim Rutenberg of the NY Times. When asked if the full 1.9% deviation could be explained by non-response bias (Kerry voters being more likely to complete the exit poll than Bush voters), he said: "It's my opinion, but I can't prove it." He...

The first thing we have to realize is that media liberals tried to throw the election for the party of the ass again. Of course, this newsletter's readers were alerted[1] back in issue 321 (Another Election Reporting SNAFU Coming Up). In a nutshell, the failed Voter News Service was replaced by two groups headed by former CBS News reporters with their election results funneled to Associated Press to tabulate and disseminate to media outlets. So, we had the very-left (Bush Administration haters) AP essentially programming most news outlets on election results. AP will never be confused with fair and balanced...

British punters who backed US presidential candidate John Kerry heavily in a rush of bets are anxiously awaiting the election result. Hundreds of thousands of pounds were placed on Kerry to defeat Republican President George Bush as exit polls predicted victory for the Democrat. Ladbrokes spokesman Warren Lush said bookmakers were taking regular £10,000 bets on victory for the challenger. On Tuesday afternoon at 5pm Bush was still favourite to win at 8/11 with John Kerry at even money. But the late betting patterns led to odds on Kerry being slashed to 1/3 and Bush pushed out to 9/4. Mr...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow Jones industrial average fell on Tuesday in a sharp reversal that trimmed gains in other indexes as Internet sites suggested exit polls had Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) ahead of President Bush (news - web sites) in key states in the U.S. presidential race. Shares of defense, pharmaceutical, health care and medical technology companies led a reversal that sharply trimmed gains and moved major indexes lower at about 2:48 p.m. after traders heard about the exit poll speculation on the Internet. "Apparently the blogs are saying that Kerry is ahead in one...

Tue Nov 2, 5:32 PM ET WASHINGTON (AFP) - Political web sites gave Senator John Kerry an early lead over President George W. Bush in key states in the presidential race, jumping the gun on the US networks by citing what they said were pirated early exit polls. "Kerry Finds Comfort in First Batch of Exit Polls," was the headline on the popular web site drudgereport.com. Another well-known political web site, Slate.com, posted what it said were early exit poll numbers which had Kerry leading Bush in the crucial states of Florida and Ohio and by a wide margin...

VOTE & GET OTHERS TO VOTE FOR THE PRESIDENT!!! There are only 5 days left before the Election.Things To Keep In Mind ... Ignore the polls. Polls are meaningless at this time so close to the election. Remember that most of these polling companies are partnered with the Press. And I wouldn’t put it past them to put out and trumpet polls designed to discourage the President's supporters about the President’s chances or make us overconfident. Ignore the polls. They could just be another “October Surprise.” All that matters now is turn-out. Vote and get others out to vote for...
