Dutch farmers make for an unlikely cause célèbre. For starters, most are conservative, not liberal. And they are fighting against stricter environmental regulations, not for them. Yet they are winning over liberal-minded people like me who sympathize with the family farmers who provide us with our daily bread and yet receive so little respect from society’s ruling elites. And they’re inspiring protests by other farmers across Europe, including in Germany, Poland and Italy. ... But the government’s poor treatment of its farmers has shocked me. The prime minister recently called the protesting farmers “a – – holes,” and sniffed: “It...

On Election Day this year, CBS4′s Shaun Boyd had a story detailing the true intentions of the national environmentalist groups pushing fracking bans in four northern Colorado towns. The article contained an admission from local fractivists that national groups seeking a total ban on fracking in Colorado were driving their campaign. But the fractivists were successful in getting their admissions and national connections stricken from the story by lobbying higher ups at CBS. Sources say Shaun Boyd is none too pleased with the edits. The current version of the story lacks a quote from Water Defense, a national environmental group...

There are several masters being served here by the Obama regime, and it’s disciples. First, there is the money, lots of money. The Obama regime, using the tenets of radical environmentalism, .which is based on a hoax, (global warming) to set up a cap and trade system that will see Obama, Al Gore, and many others rake in tens of trillions of dollars from people who are forced to purchase “carbon credits” through the Chicago Climate Exchange, which was created by Obama, and has among others, Al Gore, and elements of Goldman Sachs as partners. While politicians continue to point fingers at each other, author John Berlau puts the primary blame of hurricane Katrina’s destruction on radical environmentalists in Eco-Freaks: Environmentalism Is Hazardous to Your Health!: In the 1970s, environmentalists halted the building of the flood barrier that experts believed would have been best at stopping the surge of the Gulf of Mexico from entering Lake Pontchartrain…[the construction was stopped by] a victorious lawsuit by the Environmental Defense Fund (now Environmental Defense) and the local group, Save Our Wetlands…Katrina, by the time it hit landfall, turned out to be an average hurricane…It was solely the...
  • The Politics of Environmentalism

As discussed here time to time, politics and the goals of special interest groups often infect - I mean influence - environmental polices. In Conservative Comebacks to Liberal Lies: Issue by Issue Responses to the Most Common Claims of the Left from A to Z author Gregg Jackson answers the claims of liberals against conservatives. He spends Chapter 13 on environmental issues. I’ll quote some of the short answers here, but keep in mind that in the book he follows these with more detailed discussions. Claim #4 “Kyoto will stop global warming” Response: Only severe reductions in global C02...
  • State of Fear

In 2004, Jurassic Park and Congo author Michael Crichton released State of Fear, a techno-thriller centered around an extremist enviro group who is trying to create global disasters in order to gain support for their failing cause. I finally had a chance to read this book, and while it’s fiction, it’s also deeply rooted in reality. The actions and motivations of the radical enviros and their non-profit fronts in the book sound much like the real thing. But what really sets this novel apart is that the author uses real science to document the problems of radical envrionmentalism, to the...
