Good for Dutch farmers for fighting back against a gov’t bowing to enviro-radicals

Dutch farmers make for an unlikely cause célèbre. For starters, most are conservative, not liberal. And they are fighting against stricter environmental regulations, not for them.

Yet they are winning over liberal-minded people like me who sympathize with the family farmers who provide us with our daily bread and yet receive so little respect from society’s ruling elites. And they’re inspiring protests by other farmers across Europe, including in Germany, Poland and Italy.

...

But the government’s poor treatment of its farmers has shocked me. The prime minister recently called the protesting farmers “a – – holes,” and sniffed: “It is not acceptable to create dangerous situations.” And yet it was a Dutch police officer, not a farmer, who inexplicably fired on a 16-year-old boy driving a tractor.

...

The Netherlands is the largest exporter of meat in Europe and the second largest exporter of food overall after the United States, a remarkable feat for a nation half the size of Indiana. Food exports generate more than $100 billion a year in revenue. Experts attribute the nation’s success to its farmer’s embrace of technological innovation.

But even many on the political left say the government demands are too extreme, based on radical green fantasies and dodgy science.

...

Meanwhile, many are flying the national flag upside down in solidarity with the farmers. A new poll released two days ago shows that, if elections were held today, the ruling VVD party would lose 13 of its 34 seats in parliament and its allied D66 party would lose 11 of its 24 seats. By contrast, the party of the farmers, the “Farmer-Citizen Movement,” or BBB, which formed just three years ago, would go from having just one seat to 20.

Basically, the government wants their LAND. The coming “green” regulations and taxes will force them off it.

There are already plans to take that land and develop it into cheap government housing (and that means migrants)

The key is for the people to keep up the fight and not allow the takeover.

In America, our farmers will have overwatch for their protests.

Unfortunately, Gates and China are buying large swaths of our best farmland.

The prime minister...sniffed: “It is not acceptable to create dangerous situations.”

How, exactly, is it NOT dangerous to cut your food production by 40% or more?

This PM is exactly the sort of intellectual snob who has never done anything with his hands in his entire miserable, privileged life that Victor Davis Hanson rails against in all of his podcasts. Hanson is terrific because he loves the common people who work with their hands building things compared to the do-nothing elites in ivory towers.

Chinese company’s purchase of North Dakota farmland raises national security concerns .. 20 minutes from the Grand Forks Air Force Base.. Maj. Jeremy Fox, argued that the Fufeng project is located on a narrow geographic footprint at which passive receiving equipment could intercept sensitive drone and space- based communications to and from the base.

If they persist in attempts in a land grab, losing seats might be the least of worries. One of their adjuncts has already fired the first shots.

It goes without saying lately, but Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte is a WEF golden boy.

What is sad is that the VDD is considered as the “right wing” party in The Netherlands.

The farmers can’t hold off the WEF agenda forever. They do not care what happens to the commoners. There are too many of us now for their liking.

We need to let some of them migrate to the US...teach some of these “woke” douches to have self-respect.

I’m not highly educated, but it’s not hard to see what this will lead to in a country in a few years. Got the same thing going on here & it will eventually lead to country that is virtually worthless for all concerned. They seem to want just cheap labor & that’s what they get, where some productivity is what’s really needed. If this is what Holland wants, why don’t we just ship them Joe Biden.
