Joe Biden wasted no time destroying tens of thousands of jobs his first day in office by canceling the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. Biden also put a 60-day moratorium on new oil and natural gas leases and drilling permits on federal lands. New Mexico’s leaders are worried that Biden’s war on the energy business will devastate the state’s economy, where education, jobs and public programs depend on funding from the industry. Joe Biden (supposedly) won New Mexico with 54.29% of the vote vs 43.50% for Trump. “During his inauguration, President Biden spoke about bringing our nation together. Eliminating...

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The U.S. government said Thursday that Idaho is its preferred choice ahead of Tennessee for a test reactor to be built as part of an effort to revamp the nation’s fading nuclear power industry by developing safer fuel and power plants. The U.S. Department of Energy said in an email to The Associated Press that the site that includes Idaho National Laboratory will be listed as its preferred alternative in a draft environmental impact statement planned for release in December. The Versatile Test Reactor, or VTR, would be the first new test reactor built in the...

Whether by accident or by deliberate osmosis, Israel and the U.S. have adopted similar solutions to their existential problems. Before 2002, during the various Palestinian intifadas, Israel suffered hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries from suicide bombers freely crossing from the West Bank and Gaza into Israel. In response, Israel planned a vast border barrier. The international community was outraged. The Israeli left called the idea nothing short of "apartheid." However, after the completion of the 440-mile border barrier -- part concrete well, part wire fencing -- suicide bombings and terrorist incursions into Israel declined to almost nil....

"The United States is now -- and I said it and I'll say it all night long -- number one producer of oil and natural gas in the world. And there's nobody even close," said Trump at a "Keep America Great" rally in Hershey, Penn. on Tuesday. "In the Trump era, America became the big player in the energy world," Varney continued. "Now, that is a '180' from just a few years ago. And we all feel the benefit." "A strong economy and gas gets cheaper?" observed Varney. "It's not supposed to be like that. But with Trump's policies, we...

emocratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard tweeted Sunday that President Donald Trump was making the U.S. act as “Saudi Arabia’s bitch,†addressing Trump’s tweet on drone strikes that hit Saudi oil facilities. The Hawaii representative took issue with Trump’s statement that he would wait for confirmation from the Saudi government before proceeding with a counter-strike. “There is reason to believe that we know the culprit, are locked and loaded depending on verification, but are waiting to hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!†Trump tweeted Sunday.Houthi rebels...

Because we have done so well with Energy over the last few years (thank you, Mr. President!), we are a net Energy Exporter, & now the Number One Energy Producer in the World. We don’t need Middle Eastern Oil & Gas, & in fact have very few tankers there, but will help our Allies!

Of course, it’s a summer holiday week. So, this good news somehow slipped by most media critics of this president .But the latest government figures just showed that in April the United States produced a new record amount of oil per day — a stunning 12.16 million barrels of oil every 24 hours. That’s up another quarter-million barrels a day from March and the third straight monthly increase, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Of more significant interest, the oil production jump makes the United States the world’s largest producer of oil, ahead of the usual slippery suspects like...

RUSH: You know what else the left is ticked off about today? What did Trump not mention last night in the State of the Union address? He didn’t talk about climate change. He didn’t talk about it one time, except that he did. They just don’t know it. I’ve looked at a bunch of places. A bunch of my little childlike tech bloggers are just livid, they’re offended as hell that Trump didn’t talk about climate change. They’re out there crying to each other about the fact that 15 of the last 18 years have been the hottest years ever...

In terms of its effect on the lives of Americans, as well as the economy, the change of U.S. policy announced by the Trump administration last month to almost no media attention is a big deal. Ellen Knickmeyer of the Associated Press picked up on it belatedly: Conserving oil is no longer an economic imperative for the U.S., the Trump administration declares in a major new policy statement that threatens to undermine decades of government campaigns for gas-thrifty cars and other conservation programs.

President Trump has warned at a NATO summit that German dependence on Russian gas poses a major security threat to the West. It’s about time somebody said it! This problem has been brewing for decades. In fact it goes right back to the communist era of the Soviet Union, when the Russians saw the burgeoning green movement as the perfect way to undermine their enemies in the free West. Originally, the Soviets funded the “Peace Movement” in Western Europe mainly as a way of promoting the campaign for nuclear disarmament (in the West, that is, not behind the Iron Curtain)....

"We are running out of oil," US political leaders told us. "We can't compete with OPEC. We can't drill our way out of this." In 2012, no less an authority than Barack Obama said that increased production by increased drilling – "drill, baby, drill," he called it – was not a plan, but rather "a bumper sticker." Obama assured, "We can't just drill our way to lower gas prices." But widely unreported during the Obama years is that advances in two technologies most responsible for increased drilling efficiency – industrial fracturing (aka fracking) and horizontal drilling – were creating a...

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump will roll out a new executive order on Tuesday that eliminates several Obama-era climate change orders in favor of policies centered on energy independence. A senior administration official said that the coming EO will review some and take other Obama executive orders “off the books immediately to the extent we can,” while also looking forward to providing a “beginning framework for a strategy on energy.” Under the new order, each executive department and agency in the U.S. government will be responsible for identifying impediments to energy production. Energy policy under the order will stay...

A judge has ordered federal regulators to quickly evaluate how many power plant and coal mining jobs are lost because of air pollution regulations. U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey in Wheeling made the ruling after reviewing a response from outgoing U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy. McCarthy had responded to the judge’s previous order in a lawsuit brought against her by Murray Energy Corp. that the EPA must start doing an analysis that it hadn’t done in decades. […] The judge said the EPA is required by law to analyze the economic impact on a continuing basis when...

Saudi Arabia knew that North American shale production could potentially torpedo their hold on the energy market via oil. So, they decided to trounce the natural gas market by opening the floodgates with petroleum. It didn’t work. The Telegraph now reports that shale production has cut prices so low that they can produce at prices that are lower that what’s required to keep Saudi Arabia’s socioeconomic fabric healthy: Opec's worst fears are coming true. Twenty months after Saudi Arabia took the fateful decision to flood world markets with oil, it has still failed to break the back of the US shale...

German lawmakers approved a law that essentially bans fracking, ending years of dispute over the controversial technology to release oil and gas locked deep underground. The text approved on Friday does not outlaw conventional drilling for oil and gas, but leaves it up to state governments to decide on individual cases. But fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, which is carried out by blasting a mixture of water, sand and chemicals underground to release shale oil and gas, will be banned. …

OK my friends. If he wins he can light up a fuse throughout the dictatorial world. It's already going on in the Middle East-not by design. My targets would be Iran, China, and especially Cuba. If the oil in the Mid East stops it's ok. We got our own. Plus there's coal and nuclear. Fracking and natural gas. These countries will start a war b4 giving up power. What do we have to lose? Maybe the Norks and the Russians will take notice. Gentlemen: might as well do the most to get these issues over with. Start on victory night...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Okay. I mentioned the plummeting oil price, and there are a lot of people trying to figure out, why is this happening? There are a lot of people that do not understand what it is that's driving down the crude oil price. What explains it? When it happens and it's a mystery, people look to traditional explanations, "Well, are people driving less? Is the demand for gasoline down? The economy bad? What's going on?" And in this case that's not the answer The simple explanation for much, not at all, but for much of the drop in...

Federal wildlife officials have granted protection to the Gunnison sage grouse, a move that could to bring restrictions on oil and gas drilling and other land uses to preserve the bird's habitat in Colorado and Utah. ... They're related to the greater sage grouse, which is at the center of a separate and larger debate over federal protection across 11 Western states.

The Wall Street Journal ran an article recently exploring why the Peak Oil Predictions had not come true. Written by Russell Gold, the Journal’s senior energy reporter based in Austin, Texas, who himself released his first book called “The Boom: How Fracking Ignited the American Energy Revolution and Changed the World”, the article was an excellent walk through the ups and downs of the oil industry going back even to the late 1800’s. For example, did you know that John D. Rockefeller’s partner in Standard Oil, John Archbold, said, “I will drink every gallon (of oil) produced west of the...

Hat’s off to my friend, co-host and boss, Chris Faulkner. This past Monday, the Dallas Business Journal announced their 2014 Who’s Who in Energy list. Under the Oil and Gas tab, it read the following: James L. Poston, Aruba PetroleumT. Boone Pickens, BP Capital Chris Faulkner, Breitling Energy I have to admit, I was pretty proud when I read that Monday afternoon. I’ve been working with Chris on radio programs since December of 2013, and immediately I became aware of his incredibly sharp, witty and fast-thinking mind. These days, he and I may do up to 7 hours of oil...
