EMILY’s List is teaming up with actress Lena Dunham in an effort aimed at rallying female millennial voters for Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton. The political action committee, which backs pro-abortion Democratic women, announced the launch of its entertainment industry “Creative Council” on Sunday. “There is a true cultural moment around feminism and women’s leadership – and EMILY’s List can harness it and make sure it lasts,” said EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock in a statement. “We’ve been reaching out to non-political industries where women are working together to disrupt a boys’ club – and finding stories and sisterhoods like...

This month, Lena Dunham, wearing a red, white and blue sweater dress with the word “Hillary†emblazoned across the chest, told voters how Hillary Clinton had overcome sexism in her political career. “The way she has been treated is just more evidence of the fact that our country has so much hatred toward successful women,†Ms. Dunham, the creator and star of the HBO series “Girls,†said at a Clinton campaign event in Manchester, N.H.

SNIP This year, some SJWs (or, for the uninitiated, "internet feminist harpies") are taking it upon themselves to suggest more "empowered" costumes for young girls than those you might find in your average Spirit Halloween store. Now, I have nothing against going as, say, Marie Curie or Frieda Kahlo (especially since both have the added possibility of some truly gruesome makeup effects - radiation is bad for you, kids!), or even as a tiny Supreme Court justice. But I have to draw the line as Makers Women's suggested "female empowerment" Halloween costume. That's right, parents of America: nothing says "heroic...

Was Stanley Ann Dunham in actuality Jo Ann Newman, the baby mama of Malcolm X/s love child? Radio talk host Martha Trowbridge (1) says President Barack Hussein Obama actually was born in New York City, the love child of Malcolm X. Indeed, several sites are up with split screen images of both BHO and Malcolm X, and the similarities are striking. Documents at this website (2) show BHO’s real name is Bari Shabazz, born in NYC, 1959, the child of JoAnn Newman, and a black man named Malcolm Shabazz, (known as Malcolm X). But how does Jo Ann Newman become...

There are similarities and some stark differences between the debut of the fourth season of HBO’s Girls on Sunday and the Season 3 launch last year. In the similarities category, series creator Lena Dunham was up for Golden Globes awards both this year and last year with no wins either time. In both cases, Girls debuted against the Golden Globes. In the difference category, last year saw the Season 3 of Girls premiering at 10 PM after the debut of the heavily promoted True Detective. That wasn’t the case this year and it showed – with Girls as well as...

We are in the midst of a war on rape. From American campuses to British courthouses, from newspaper op-ed pages to the weird world of online petitions, ‘zero tolerance’ of rape has been declared. And who could possibly be against it? No one is ‘pro-rape’. So surely everyone will cheer a war on rape. Not so fast. Wars on rape have been declared before, and often for deeply reactionary reasons, having the effect of harming society rather than helping women. Consider the ‘war on rape’ declared in America’s Deep South in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, when the KKK...

Remember the truth? Not “the truth,” but “truth”—those irrefutable realities that were backed up by facts. The old “2 + 2 = 4” sort of truth about which there was no debate. It’s now dead. Truth, facts, honesty – these were all, individually and collectively, important aspects of human life and society. Now they’re inconveniences, brushed aside in favor of whatever narrative someone is seeking to push. Want to pass a major government seizure of one-sixth of the U.S. economy? Cook the books, lie to the people and tell them if they’re happy with what they have now this new...

Through his attorney Aaron Minc, and for the first time since being placed under suspicion of rape by Lena Dunham's memoir, "Barry One" has released a statement. It is posted in full below.

(... Now in order for there to be a vast and vibrant market for any good and service a higher purpose has got to be served. Let’s look at the important things that we get from having all those false rape accusations out there dominating the media sphere. (1) Careers can be made! Look at the return on investment that Al Sharpton has gotten out of his profitable collaboration with Tawana Brawley. (Crystal Mangum and Mike NiFong met with less success. Read the prospectus carefully before investing!) (2) Evil men are made to live in fear! The Breitbart story has...

The man identified as "Barry One" in a Breitbart News investigation debunking Lena Dunham's story of being raped in college by a "mustachioed campus Republican" named Barry, has made his first official statement since the release of that report. Through his attorney, identified as Aaron Minc, Barry One has set up a legal fund to cover current legal expenses, clear his name, and to potentially file suit against Ms. Dunham. The proceeds from the legal fund will be used only to cover Barry One's legal expenses. If there are any leftover monies, those will be donated to non-profit organizations that...

A reader writes: I think … VC/Wapo readers (including those sympathetic to Ms. Dunham) would be interested in your thoughts on whether Barry “One” (as the … Breitbart article refers to him) has a potential cause of action against Lena Dunham and/or Random House for negligence, [intentional infliction of emotional distress], false light, libel, whatever (assuming he can prove that he did not rape or otherwise have sex with Ms. Dunham as described in her memoir). At least to me, the question of whether an author can be held liable (consistent with the First Amendment) for intentionally or unintentionally (but...

A media investigation into the allegations of rape featured in Lena Dunham's recently-released memoir has refuted the claims of sexual assault made by the Girls creator. The writer, actor and director dedicates a chapter of her book, Not That Kind Of Girl - for which she received a reported $3.7 million advance - to a boy she met at Oberlin College in Ohio identified as 'Barry', who she alleges raped her one night after a party.

In her just-released memoir, Not That Kind of Girl, Lena Dunham describes her alma mater, Oberlin College, as "a liberal arts haven in the cornfields of Ohio." After a month-long investigation that included more than a dozen interviews, a trip to the Oberlin campus, and hours spent poring through the Oberlin College archives, her description of the campus remains the only detail Breitbart News was able to verify in Dunham's story of being raped by a campus Republican named Barry.

First off, this post is not here to join the "What Lena Dunham did to her little sister" pile on. There's nothing I can possibly add that hasn't already been written, and if you're new to this story you can read Kevin Williamson's piece that opened the floodgates. Equally entertaining is how she reacted to Truth Revolt having the audacity to... quote her. OK, maybe I do have one point to make1 on this element. But that's not why I'm writing this post. The idea came to me the other week when I found an interesting article in The Nation, What...

For the second time in a week, Lena Dunham has come out to discredit claims she sexually abused her little sister, which were based on a childhood story published in her recently released book Not That Kind of Girl. In a statement to Time magazine on Tuesday the creator and star of HBO's Girls says she is 'dismayed' over how the website Truth Revolt interpreted the essay about looking at her then year-old sister Grace's vagina out of curiosity when she was seven. 'First and foremost, I want to be very clear that I do not condone any kind of...

Is Lena Dunham too privileged to fail? Ever since her meteoric rise to fame with the premiere of HBO’s Girls in 2012, Dunham’s name has become synonymous with the scandals that regularly swirl around her without ever sinking her altogether. Currently, the Girls star is facing allegations from conservative outlet Truth Revolt that she sexually abused her sister Grace when they were both children. These allegations are based off of excerpts from her memoir Not That Kind of Girl in which she recalls bribing Grace with candy to kiss her on the lips, opening her vagina with her fingers, and...

Lena Dunham may not like our interpretation of her book, but unfortunately for her and her attorneys, she wrote that book. On Saturday, HBO’s Lena Dunham sent a “cease and desist” letter to TruthRevolt demanding that we remove an article we posted last Wednesday on sections of her book, Not That Kind of Girl. The letter threatened legal action if we did not both remove that article, as well as print a note, the suggested language of which read as follows: We recently published a story stating that Ms. Dunham engaged in sexual conduct with her sister. The story was...

Not to take one single smidgen of a thing away from Jonah Goldberg, whom I enjoy and respect in equal and enormous measure, but Kevin Williamson is to me the most interesting thinker at National Review. Today he takes on Girls girl Lena Dunham, who he says in one sense may truly be the voice of her generation: The enormous affluence and indulgence of her upbringing did not sate her sundry hungers — for adoration, for intellectual respect that she has not earned, for the unsurpassable delight of moral preening — but instead amplified and intensified her sense of entitlement....

Lena Dunham has taken over the internet - at least when it comes to some of her fellow celebrities. The 28-year-old posted a topless photo of herself to Instagram on Thursday, tying in both her new book Not That Kind Of Girl and a campaign to get people to vote for women's rights. The Girls creator's naked selfie followed a series of pictures posted by some of Hollywood's biggest leading ladies, who all proudly wore a shirt advertising the dual campaign with the slogan 'Lena Loves Planned Parenthood' emblazoned across their chests.
