More than half of LGBTQ parents in Florida are considering moving their families to another state over concerns that a new Florida education law – known to its critics as the “Don’t Say Gay” law – stigmatizes LGBTQ identities and creates a hostile learning environment for LGBTQ children or students with LGBTQ family members. In a report issued Tuesday by the Williams Institute, a public policy research institute based at the UCLA of Law, and Clark University in Massachusetts, 56 percent of LGBTQ parents surveyed said they were considering leaving Florida over concerns about how the new law may impact...

How do you solve a problem like MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart? By considering leaving the United States. The Washington Post columnist published a column on Tuesday that he and his husband, Nick Schmit, are ready to leave the United States due to what he calls “crazy White people.” He cited the SPLC poll, which states that “nearly 7 in 10 Republicans surveyed agree to at least some extent that demographic changes in the United States are deliberately driven by liberal and progressive politicians attempting to gain political power by ‘replacing more conservative white voters.’” “What’s terrifying is that this twisted...

Madonna isn’t known to play coy about her disdain for the reality TV mogul-turned-president. She’s publicly condemned Trump a number of times since he took office. Along with calling the election a “horror show,” Madonna admitted to having thoughts about “blowing up...

Specter Calls for ‘Revolution’ and ‘Uprising’ Against Republicans 'Far to the Right' Thursday, April 30, 2009 By Josiah Ryan, Staff Writer (CNSNews.com) - There ought to be a “rebellion” and an “uprising” against right-wing elements that are trying to purify the Republican Party, Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania said Tuesday, shortly after he announced he would leave the Grand Old Party to become a Democrat. Specter said Republicans "far to the right" in the party, who are more worried about ideology than winning elections, have brought about one costly defeat after another for the GOP, including the tabling of 34...

It may well be time for a new conservative political party. The republicans have failed, and failed big-time to deliver for conservative causes. They seem inclined to nominate CINO only like Rudy Guliani or John McCain, and neither of those candidates is gonna do one thing for conservative issues. Said another way, the republicans are part of the problem, and no part of any solution. But it IS time, to make substantive changes, and the GOP seems not to be part of them.

(CNSNews.com) - It may not rival Hugo Chavez' vitriol at the United Nations, but Kofi Annan's "farewell speech" in Missouri on Monday is expected to be a parting shot at President Bush, USA Today reported. Annan "will accuse the administration of trying to secure the United States from terrorism in part by dominating other nations through force, committing what he termed human rights abuses and taking military action without broad international support," the report said

Two days after losing a bid for a second term, Sen. Lincoln Chafee said he was unsure whether he would remain a Republican. Chafee lost to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse in a race seen as a referendum on President Bush and the GOP. On Thursday, he was asked whether he would stick with the Republican Party or become an independent or Democrat. "I haven't made any decisions. I just haven't even thought about where my place is," Chafee said at a news conference. When pressed on whether his comments indicated he might leave the GOP, he replied: "That's fair." Chafee, 53,...

An open letter to William P. Leahy, SJ, president of Boston College. I am writing to resign my post as an adjunct professor of English at Boston College. I am doing so -- after five years at BC, and with tremendous regret -- as a direct result of your decision to invite Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to be the commencement speaker at this year's graduation. Many members of the faculty and student body already have voiced their objection to the invitation, arguing that Rice's actions as secretary of state are inconsistent with the broader humanistic values of the university...

A senior women's health official at the Food and Drug Administration resigned on Wednesday to protest the agency's failure to approve over-the-counter sales of a "morning-after" contraceptive despite favorable recommendations from staff scientists. The FDA said Friday it was indefinitely postponing a decision on Barr Pharamceuticals Inc.'s (BRL.N: Quote, Profile, Research) bid to sell the Plan B contraceptive without a prescription. A decision that "continues to limit women's access to a product that would reduce unintended pregnancies and reduce abortions is contrary to my core commitment to improving and advancing women's health," said Susan Wood, the FDA's assistant commissioner for...

A controversial Islamic cleric has left the UK for the Middle East, his spokesman has said, amid speculation he would be investigated for treason. Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed - former head of radical group Al Muhajiroun - left on Saturday for Lebanon, his colleague Anjem Choudary told the BBC. Tony Blair had warned Mr Mohammed's organisation faced a potential ban under new anti-terrorism measures. Mr Choudary said the cleric believed "Britain had declared war on Muslims". The news came as it was revealed police and lawyers were to consider whether some outspoken Islamist radicals could face treason charges. He has...

Hundreds of thousands of Muslims have thought about leaving Britain after the London bombings, according to a new Guardian/ICM poll. The figure illustrates how widespread fears are of an anti-Muslim backlash following the July 7 bombings which were carried out by British born suicide bombers. The poll also shows that tens of thousands of Muslims have suffered from increased Islamophobia, with one in five saying they or a family member have faced abuse or hostility since the attacks.

Furiously and stubbornly refusing to relinquish propaganda sentiments in favor of clear and unbiased logic has unfortunately rendered a portion of our party intellectually irrelevant. Just as the followers of Howard Dean can bring...
