Two city officials say an Alabama animal shelter's outdated equipment allowed two pit bulls to fatally maul 29 cats. WTVY-TV reports the dead cats were found Thursday by workers at the Dothan Animal Shelter. Shelter Director Bill Banks says the dogs forced their way out of a pen. They then pushed hard on a galvanized bar attached to a chain link fence, knocking it out of a clamp which allowed them access to the cats.

On Thursday, August 9, 2018, a resident of a Lake Tillery development on the western side of Montgomery County went missing while taking her daily walk. After several hours the 66 year old female did not return home. Her husband called neighbors and friends who searched the area. They were unable to locate her and call 911. A man is recovering after he was attacked by his neighbor's dog. The attack happened near 35th and Gore around 8:00 a.m. Monday. An investigation is underway following the attack. Police said a man went outside and was bitten by his neighbor's dog, he then went back inside to get a gun and shot the Staffordshire Terrier, more commonly known as a pit bull. The dog was impounded and is now in quarantine at a local vet while its owner is facing charges. "The dog owner was cited for running at large," Lawton Animal Welfare's Field Supervisor Roy Rodrick said....

FAIRBANKS—A Fairbanks man critically shot a pit bull in Aurora Subdivision on Wednesday evening after it attacked another dog being walked by two girls. Court documents say a white man called a black man the N-word, and told him he's "in the wrong neighborhood." According to court documents, Mathu Dwain Karcher was with his pit bull when he began closely following a black man, who told Karcher he wanted to give him space because he didn't like pit bulls.
