He disappointed conservatives during his eight years in the Senate. Is there any reason to think this Washington insider and veteran trial lawyer would be any better as President? The frustration of conservatives is understandable. Faced with the prospects of Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, or Mitt Romney as the next Republican presidential candidate, many are pinning their hopes on former Senator Fred Thompson of Tennessee. Could this actor-politician be the new Ronald Reagan? Mainstream media types assure us that he is. His record suggests otherwise. This is the second time conservatives have pinned their hopes on Thompson. When he was...

Lower tax rates for women would have a number of benefits, two economists argue. But their ideas, which get high marks for originality, have drawn doubters. Want to reduce the overall level of income taxes and see more women taking home paychecks?

UNITED NATIONS, New York: A representative of the United Nations secretary general on Monday officially recommended independence for Kosovo, saying it was the only way the embattled province could become economically viable and politically stable. In a report formally submitted to the Security Council, the envoy, Martti Ahtisaari, said he had concluded that yearlong negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo had reached an insurmountable impasse. In a 61-page proposal, he recommended that Kosovo's independence be supervised for "an initial period" by the European Union with NATO military forces and the European police.

Democratic strategist Bob Beckel admitted, in an interview on Fox News, that Fred Thompson for president would be their worst nightmare. Sounds good to me!

David Kuo WASHINGTON – Top White House political advisers embraced evangelical supporters publicly to get their votes while mocking them privately as "nuts" and "goofy," according to a new book by David Kuo, the former No. 2 man in President Bush's so-called "faith-based" initiatives program. In "Tempting Faith: An Inside Story of Political Seduction," Kuo also says it's time for conservative Christians to take a time out from politics and to re-evaluate their priorities. The book hits stores today. Kuo quit the White House in 2003. Now he accuses Karl Rove's political staff of cynically hijacking the faith-based initiatives...

According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

This article by Dr. Walid, a top scholar at the Islamic University, exposes our so-called secular Indian Muslims. By the doctrine of Al-Taqiyah, Muslims dominate crime syndicates, increase population by massive Bangladeshi infiltration and make temporary alliances with Dalits, Christians, etc. In the early years of the Islamic conquest of the Arabian peninsula and in the Fatah (Arab-Islamic invasion and conquest of the upper Middle East and the outside world), a Muslim concept was devised to achieve success against the enemy (non Muslims), Al-Taqiyah. Al-Taqiyah, from the verb Ittaqu, means linguistically dodge the threat. Politically it means simulate whatever status...

FP: James Rothrock, welcome to Frontpage Interview. Rothrock: It’s an honor to be here. FP: So tell us a bit about what inspired you to write this book. Rothrock: I served in Vietnam and lived through the tumultuous antiwar years. I have always been troubled by those in the antiwar movement who undermined their own country, subverted the nation’s war effort, and tarnished the image of the American servicemen who served their country, many of whom gave their all. I still remember the day I returned from Vietnam and was told to change into civilian clothes before proceeding off base....

By now, after 9/11, Katrina, the spending binge, energy crisis after energy crisis, numerous other neglected problems and the current mutual two-party accommodation of this illegal alien invasion, it has become abundantly clear that the two party system is not serving the interests of the average American. We need to get out of this two-party cartel while we still have a chance before this Open Border/One World Order takes over and America loses the rest of all the characteristics that made it unique. Have the past three decades of redistricting, "motor voter" legislation and illegal immigration reduced the ompetitiveness of...

I'm quite upset over the far-left-wing media's shoddy reporting re: Terri's actual condition. She'd be alive today in her minimal level of consciousness and still able to feel pain if the old media had reported accurately on her actual condition. What I'd like to see in the aftermath of the Terri Schiavo fiasco: Congress holds hearings on the matter. The far-left-wing media is shamed over its shoddy reporting about Terri's actual condition, and the far-left-wing media suffers a severe blow to its credibility regarding the question of how it managed to a) overlook numerous conflicts of interest among the pro-death...

The government wanted political concessions from Beijing in exchange for reviving dialogue. China has disrupted this strategy by taking advantage of Taiwan's internal divisions. By showering...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Leaders of a divided federal civil-rights watchdog agency accused President Bush of deepening racial divisions, in a parting shot after years of sparring with his administration.Mary Frances Berry, chairperson of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and Vice Chairperson Cruz Reynoso delivered a 166-page report to the White House harshly criticizing the administration for setting back race relations and failing to promote civil rights in any meaningful way. But the report is not an official document, because four of the eight commissioners, all of them Republican appointees, voted against adopting it and rejected the charges as politically...

City Journal The Immigrant Gang Plague Heather Mac Donald Summer 2004 Before immigration optimists issue another rosy prognosis for America’s multicultural future, they might visit Belmont High School in Los Angeles’s overwhelmingly Hispanic, gang-ridden Rampart district. “Upward and onward” is not a phrase that comes to mind when speaking to the first- and second-generation immigrant teens milling around the school this January.“Most of the people I used to hang out with when I first came to the school have dropped out,” observes Jackie, a vivacious illegal alien from Guatemala. “Others got kicked out or got into drugs. Five graduated,...

... The problem arises when you actually get down to the methods they advocate to ensure their view of equality and their methods of obtaining it. We are all individuals. We all live our lives based on our life experiences, economic status, education level, religious values, family values and the character traits we developed as a result. We all have differing opinions on different subjects. We all have the right, or should have; to live our lives as free thinking individuals, as long as our actions are legal, moral, non-perverse and contribute to society as a whole. We should have...

Most Americans long ago stopped believing that George W. Bush is what he claimed to be during the 2000 presidential campaign: a compassionate conservative. But is George W. Bush a conservative at all? The answer might seem self-evident to progressives who have spent the past four years recoiling at the reactionary agenda the Bush Administration has advanced on everything from the environment to the courts, global warming to gay marriage. But while few people would confuse George W. Bush for a liberal, whether the policies he's championed qualify as traditionally conservative is by no means clear. "Historically, conservatism in the...

LOS ANGELES -- A Claremont college professor who claimed she was targeted in a hate crime that provoked campus protests denied police allegations that she staged the vandalism. "This is like a very big deal if they think I'm a suspect," Kerri F. Dunn, a visiting professor of psychology at Claremont McKenna College, told the Los Angeles Times. "I didn't want any of this from the beginning. This is so overshadowing the bigger problem on campus, which is that the administration has turned its head regularly on hate speech and hate crimes." But police said two witnesses came forward with...

The co-chairman of Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign for governor has supported efforts to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens, according to state records, a political position that may clash with the candidate's views. Assemblyman Abel Maldonado, R-Santa Maria, voted to approve two bills in the last two legislative sessions that would have removed legal residency requirements for license applicants. Gov. Gray Davis, citing concerns about public safety, vetoed both bills. This year, a third, virtually identical bill has won approval in the state Senate, and is expected to be approved by the Assembly before the summer session ends Sept. 12. Davis...
