I'm quite upset over the far-left-wing media's shoddy reporting re: Terri's actual condition. She'd be alive today in her minimal level of consciousness and still able to feel pain if the old media had reported accurately on her actual condition. What I'd like to see in the aftermath of the Terri Schiavo fiasco:
Congress holds hearings on the matter.
The far-left-wing media is shamed over its shoddy reporting about Terri's actual condition, and the far-left-wing media suffers a severe blow to its credibility regarding the question of how it managed to a) overlook numerous conflicts of interest among the pro-death players in Florida, and b) overlook Michael's malpractice trial fraud and his verbal and physical abuse of Terri through the years.
Greer is impeached and removed from office for manslaughter if not murder. Michael is prosecuted for murder, attempted murder, and insurance fraud. The run-amok judiciary is stopped from making legislation from the bench. The pro-death advocates and philosophies are exposed and defeated.
A detailed and well-referenced hypothesis of Michael's lies about and abuse of Terri is in

Maybe Fox News will do some kind of expose special on the whole sorry affair and the even sorrier Greer, hubby Schiavo, and the vampire Felos. I wish someone would dig hard into any possible insurance or Medicaid fraud involved in the case too.
Welcome to Free Republic.
"Maybe Fox News will do some kind of expose special on the whole sorry affair" Hopefully, and soon. I heard Sean Hannity recently say that he hoped someone would get to the bottom of what caused Terri's collapse (my money is on Michael causing it).
Sean did excellent work on radio and TV in the weeks before Terri's death.

welcome to FR. These are great ideas.
But I was a little more confident that Terri would be rescued and returned eventually to her parents, than I am that these goons/murderers will have to pay for what they did to her.
The probate/hospice/sham/deathIndustry is too big a business to bring it down easily.
Welcome to Free Republic, David.
As F.U.E. said, great ideas. Painfully uncertain
how to bring them to fruition.
"great ideas. Painfully uncertain
how to bring them to fruition."
Maybe:
Pressure Fox News and the _Washington Times_ to devote resources to an investigation. They could build on what
http://theempirejournal.com/greer_schiavo_articles.htm
has done.
Pressure members of Congress to hold hearings on the matter.
At the very least: tell friends and family about Terri's actual condition and Michael's criminal behavior. Those people will hesitate to believe in and be extremely skeptical of future 'reporting' by the far-left-wing media.
"Future Useless Eater"
1997 Wesley Smith:
"Well aware that the German public supported euthanasia,
the new Nazi government proposed to legalize the
practice in 1933. A front-page _New York Times_ article
described the proposal as making it possible for
physicians to end the tortures of incurable patients. ....
This legislation never became law because of an outcry
from the churches. But that did not stop the Nazi
government from campaigning to increase public support
for the killing of "useless eaters." .... Many doctors and
nurses came to accept the idea that they owed a
professional duty to the state as well as to their patients--
in their delivery of medical services..... By 1938,
more than a year before the outbreak of actual hostilities,
an outpouring of requests from the relatives of severely
disabled infants and young children for permission to end
the lives of their little useless eaters was flowing to the
German government."

anyone noticed that the Empire Journal articles
are no longer online? am certainly hoping that
the EJ reporting becomes available again.
have tried discussing this situation with people
I know in "real life" but even when Terri still
lived I didn't find a lot of listeners. I don't
think this is due solely to my inadequacies.
I wish there were a "USA Citizens Anon" I need
real life contact on this.

I felt the very same way as you did. I was extremely disappointed in my own friends. While they would somewhat agree with what I had to say about Terri, they didn't have much passion to understand just how hedious and outrageous, what happened to Terri really was.
Fortunately for me, I found a few people from here and from another forum, who I was able to talk to on the phone. I know they say you shouldn't give out your phone number to total strangers, but I am glad I did. One of the people I talked with actually made a trip to the Death House Hospice in Florida, where Terri had been held as a prisoner since 2000. We spent many hours on the phone talking about what was going on.
For the past couple of years, I have been on the e-mail list of Cheryl Ford, who worked very hard for Terri. Her updates on what was going on during that time, were excellent. She was there with the Schindlers and knew the truth.
The News Media for the most part, was a complete failure. I'm still sickened by their distortion of what happened to Terri. In my opinion, the major reason the MSM went after Rep Tom Delay, was due to his hard work to save Terri. I feel Delay was totally sincere in his efforts to help Terri's family stop the execution that Judge Greer ordered.
What a chilling day that was on February 25, 2005, to hear Greer order Terri's feeding tube of Food and Water to be removed. His words will forever be etched in my mind. How a probate Judge can consider Michael Schiavo's wife to be nothing more than his property to be disposed up like an old shoe, is beyond the English language.
There are so many questions about what happened to Terri, that will most likely never be answered. Like you, I really enjoyed reading The Empire Journal. I also don't know what happened to their website and hope it is restored soon.
Thank you for this thread, David. I agree with everything you said. Also, thank you for the link to The Empire Journal.
Just yesterday I tried to bring up their website and it had a message which said *Under Construction*. Not sure what's going on, but was definately happy to click on your link and have it work. ;)
David, there are many people here on Freerepublic who feel like you do. People have not forgotten about Terri and I don't think they ever will forget.

For one think, Greer got many election campaign contributions. Compare:

Campaign contributors to the political campaign of district 8 Florida
Senator James W. "Jim" King include Richard M. Jerger of Jerger &
Centonze Insurnace Agency (sic).
[Centonze is the woman Michael Schiavo lives with and has fathered 2
children with. While still remaining married to Terri-- a divorce
would have meant forgoing $700,000 gross upon Terri's

Senator King seemed in a rush for Terri Schiavo to depart planet
earth.
"I believe that there is a heaven and that's where Terri is going to
go, and that's a trip that's long overdue," said Senator Jim King, the
Jacksonville Republican who authored the state's death with dignity
law after watching his parents suffer drawn-out deaths from cancer.
....
Commenting on the passage of "Terri's Law", which he originally
upheld, Senator King said it was "probably one of the worst votes that
I've ever done."

They have no shame. But I want the hearings anyway, to energize the right.
