Sometimes the truth just has a way of coming to light. A public information officer with the Texas Department of Transportation this week wrote a column in the Herald-Press describing the financial woes facing TxDOT and how because of those problems the state’s transportation department doesn’t have the money to deal with many of the state’s transportation issues. Apparently, several of the state’s senators do not feel that is the case at all. David Dewhurst called out the state’s interim chairwoman of the Texas Transportation Commission, Hope Andrade, on this very issue, according to a story from the Associated Press....

<p>MANY - A convicted child molester who District Attorney Don Burkett considers one of the worst sex offenders in this region faces yet another prison term following his conviction Monday in 11th Judicial District Court.</p> <p>Judge Stephen Beasley convicted Samuel G. Teague, 56, after a half-day bench trial. Teague was found guilty on one of two counts of molestation of a juvenile.</p>

<p>STONEWALL - Two fifth-grade boys at North DeSoto Middle School who are accused of fondling a female classmate will go unpunished by school officials despite pending criminal charges.</p> <p>The alleged incident involving a fifth-grade girl at a Shreveport skating rink would have been considered sexual harassment and the two boys would have been suspended immediately had it occurred on campus, said Ronnie Land, supervisor of child welfare and attendance for DeSoto schools. School officials cannot suspend students for alleged violations that occur off campus, he said.</p>
