In the Nineties film, the president ends up comatose, and his chief of staff secretly hires a body double. These days, the plot feels eerily familiar. Ever since the Great Debate Debacle—and its successor event, the Stephanopoulos Sit-Down That Could Have Gone Better—Joe Biden’s most fervent supporters have chosen one of two tacks. The first is full-on denial: the president is doing fine, they say! Amazing, even! Any blips in his performance were merely the result of poor preparation, or a cold, or some secret saboteur inside CNN who installed a “ghastly pallor and verbal incoherence” filter on the camera...

The longtime head of public affairs at the FBI -- who was a confidant of former director James Comey -- is planning to retire, Fox News has learned. A notice went out this week for a retirement get-together for Michael Kortan scheduled for Feb. 15. Since 2009, Kortan has served as assistant director for public affairs, an influential job that controlled media access. He also served under former director Robert Mueller, now leading the Russia probe. The FBI confirmed to Fox News that Kortan is retiring. It's unclear whether the retirement was long-planned or in any way precipitated by recent...

No. This not a joke. It's real. The BBC has apparently decided Africans are simply too stupid to be expected to learn normal English. So, the news will now be delivered to them in Pidgin as if it is a real language. Would they ever deliver the news in Cockney? How about Leprechaun? Or maybe a heavy redneck Southern drawl?

On a recent broadcast, personal financial adviser and radio talk show host Dave Ramsey talked about the Millennial generation and their bent towards socialism and the support of Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. Ramsey read from a Washington Post article titled, "Millennials like socialism — until they get jobs." For his rant, Ramsey amended that title a bit: "Millennials like socialism — until they have to pay for it." After reading through the statistics from the article written by the Cato Institute's Emily Ekins showing that Millennials view socialism less favorably as they age and begin to earn higher wages, Ramsey...

LIKE so many others, I was stunned by Speaker John A. Boehner’s announcement on Friday that he would step down at the end of October. For nearly six years — first as Republican whip and then as majority leader — I met with John on a daily, sometimes hourly, basis as we worked to lead the House Republican Conference. (SNIP) We are in the midst of a campaign to elect the next president. After two terms of President Obama, an economy that is growing too slowly and a retrenchment of American power abroad, the conservative to-do list for the next...

In one of the party’s best pickup opportunities this cycle, Democrats have zeroed in on second-time candidate Monica Vernon to win Iowa’s 1st District. Freshman Rep. Rod Blum, a Republican, holds the seat. But the district’s composition is competitive, if not left-leaning: In 2012, President Barack Obama won it with 56 percent. (SNIP) On the other side, there’s concern in the state Blum might not get much help from Washington, D.C. after voting against John A. Boehner for speaker on his first day in office. Iowa Republicans noted Blum didn’t make the National Republican Congressional Committee’s initial list for the...

Virginia 7th Congressional District Republican candidate Dave Brat’s campaign is hosting an outdoor fundraising rally that will feature Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions and conservative radio host Laura Ingraham. The Brat campaign announced the event Tuesday. The September 27 rally will take place in Beaverdam.

Twenty-four hours ago, the Tea Party claimed responsibility for Dave Brat’s amazing victory over House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Are you ready? Here it comes! ClapClapClapClapClapClap. I applaud you. You’ve managed to succeed in the Herculean and super-consequential task of replacing a Republican with a Republican. Yay.

Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez attacked conservative radio host Laura Ingraham at a press conference Friday morning, stressing the urgent need for immigration reform. “I want to begin showing bipartisanship, and read a tweet today from Laura Ingraham,” Gutierrez kicked off the press conference. “And Laura Ingraham’s tweet this morning was, 'When was the last time Rep. Guiterrez helped a native-born American in his district?’" When was the last time @RepGutierrez helped a native-born American in his district? — Laura Ingraham (@IngrahamAngle) May 30, 2014 According to the fiery pro-amnesty Illinois congressman, Ingraham’s tweet embodies “exactly the problem with how...

Lies and rumors about Congressman Eric Cantor have been widely distributed by tea party candidate Dave Brat’s supporters. As we near the June 10 primary for the 7th Congressional District, it’s time to set the record straight. Here’s the truth from Brian Schoeneman in response to 20 lies about Eric Cantor that were posted in the Bearing Drift comments from a Dave Brat supporter (see Liberal professor David Brat pulls a two-face two-step by Brian Kirwin). Lie #1: Eric Cantor made insider trading illegal for Americans, but exempted his family members. The truth: Insider trading has been illegal for Americans...

Harry Reid and Barack Obama are pushing an amnesty bill. This liberal plan would give six million illegal aliens citizenship.

Eric Cantor is lying about Dave Brat. Yes, I called the Majority Leader and my Congressman a liar. And that is something that I am not proud to have to do. But I am sick and tired of the lies about Dave Brat and they need to stop. And I am not the only one that knows Eric Cantor is a liar. Delegate Chris Peace, who supports Eric Cantor wrote: “I have known David Brat for a long time and have never thought he is a liberal professor. In fact, his ethics as a seminarian and economist have always been...

Whether it's a small business, a family farm or a modern office, here in Virginia hard work is a way of life. And in Washington, Congressman Eric Cantor is working hard for us. To cut spending and reduce the deficit. Cut red tape and government regulations. So Americans are free to grow our economy and create good jobs. A conservative leader who shares our values. Eric Cantor: fighting for Virginia jobs.

A Cantor-First Immigration Policy: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor seems to be in a real race to retain his seat in the GOP primary. His challenger, economist Dave Brat, has attacked Cantor as soft on immigration amnesty.** The charge is accurate: Cantor’s actually written his own version of the DREAM Act, legalizing young undocumented immigrants. He supports the ENLIST Act--a seemingly appealing measure (limited to DREAMers who enlist in the military) that would nevertheless give the Democratic Senate a chance to push a much larger amnesty in “conference.”

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor won’t allow attempts next week to include a measure on a must-pass defense policy bill that would legalize young undocumented immigrants who serve in the military. A spokesman confirmed Friday that the legislation, known as the Enlist Act, will not be among those debated with the National Defense Authorization Act, an annual bill that sets policy for the Pentagon. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.), the Enlist Act’s chief sponsor, had pledged to bring it up as part of the floor battle over the defense bill.

According to an explosive new report by David Steinberg at PJ Media, Rep. Eric Cantor’s chief consultant, Ray Allen, has been telling people that he will essentially burn down the Republican Party of Virginia so that he and Cantor can assume control of its smoldering ruins. Readers of The Bull Elephant are familiar with the strong-arm parliamentary tactics that have been employed by Ray Allen and his allies over the past months. Check here and here for recent articles exposing the parliamentary maneuver called “slating,” whereby Allen’s allies seize control of a party committee’s mass meeting to elect only sa...

RUSH: Mark in Richmond, Virginia, you're next. Great to have you, sir. Hello. CALLER: Hello, Rush. I'm a longtime listener, and I've listened to you over the years, and one time you said something about trying to elect the most conservative candidate that was electable. Now, correct me on some of the details, but in light of the Tea Party candidates that are trying to get elected running against the establishment machine, I thought this would be relevant to go over what you exactly said and the details of that. RUSH: I quoted William F. Buckley Jr., who said that...
