An off-duty police officer shot and killed a male attempting to rob a credit union this morning, police said. The incident started about 10:10 a.m., at a Chartway Federal Credit Union in the 5000 block of Ferrell Parkway, near the intersection of Indian Lakes Boulevard. A male wearing a mask and dark clothes entered the credit union and announced the robbery, said Sgt. Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman. The robber appeared to be armed.
