An off-duty police officer shot and killed a male attempting to rob a credit union this morning, police said.
The incident started about 10:10 a.m., at a Chartway Federal Credit Union in the 5000 block of Ferrell Parkway, near the intersection of Indian Lakes Boulevard. A male wearing a mask and dark clothes entered the credit union and announced the robbery, said Sgt. Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman. The robber appeared to be armed.
The off-duty officer was one of the customers in the credit union. He confronted the robber, then fired at least one shot, Bernstein said.
The robber was pronounced dead at the scene, Bernstein said. Police have not yet released his identity.
Bernstein would not say what city or agency the officer works for.
No one else was injured in the incident.
Saved the Virginia taxpayers a whole lot of money.
Yes, a win/win situation. I drive by that shopping center on my way to work.
Good news
“Holder’s Person?” No description of the “suspect.”

Just needed some money to pay for his Bible studies.
Nice. Wanna bet some thug tries robbing that place next week or next month?

If this keeps up, NASA will run out of future astronauts.
Too early. When that info is available, I’ll post it. It will probably take a day or two.
Cool! I always get disappointed when the thug is recovering in a hospital, or shot in the leg or whatever.
Shot dead is the only happy ending.

Even worse is when they’re airlifted to the hospital. What a waste.
No muss, no fuss.
Great shooting!
But wait, McAwful wants to take VA’s guns away...hmmmm?
No description of the off-duty officer, either.
Yeah, I saw that. Check out the comments. Looks like they stirred up a hornet’s nest, lol!
I had the same reaction.. What a happy ending!!
That guy won’t cause any more trouble will he??
It was not his lucky day. Tough luck, that he tries to rob a place where an off duty cop just happens to be a customer.
Nice ending!!!
