Faced with the prospect of spending up to a decade in prison for defrauding clients out of more than $3.6 million, a former Butler County bankruptcy lawyer apparently killed himself instead. Daniel J. Gates, 44, formerly of Zelienople, was found dead Friday near Ocala, Fla., where he'd been living since his indictment in July 2003.
