Many prosthetic feet use blades. Here’s why adding toes could help. The human foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, and over 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments. The process of buying a home comes with many, many decisions. This barrage of choices starts immediately with deciding which online platform to use to search for potential homes. While the choice was once primarily between online real estate giants Zillow and Realtor.com, there's now a new number-two competitor in town: Homes.com. You may have seen their ads — especially during Superbowl LVIII — featuring big-name celebrities like Jeff Goldblum, Dan Levy, and Heidi Gardner. But does Homes.com's rapid growth mean that it's a better platform? Not necessarily. It all depends on what you're looking for. Meanwhile, Zillow's name continues...

Today I received a letter of cancellation of our commercial insurance based on a "virtual inspection of property". The letter also stated that I could request a hearing before the Insurance Division of the State of Oregon "for the purpose of establishing the existence of the proof or evidence for the reason given for the cancellation." They do not explain what their "virtual inspection" is comprised of, but no person contacted us or made an inperson walk through or walk around our place of business. I am further suspicious because their one paragraph inspection report states "Exterior walls of building...

From frying eggs in pesto to making cottage cheese ice cream, keep these food atrocities out of your kitchen. As a former social media editor, employee at a food media publication, and Gen Z-er, I spend an inordinate amount of time looking at food videos on TikTok and Instagram. Many of these have introduced me to my favorite new food personalities — like Hailee Catalano, known for her beach sandwiches and adept use of seasonal produce, or fruit peeling expert and founder of Fysh Foods Zoya Biglary — and dishes that are now an integral part of my regular rotation (hello,...

One parking lot in San Francisco is becoming the breeding ground for seemingly confused self-driving cars gathering at night and honking at each other. Nearby resident Randol White captured footage of the Waymo self-driving vehicles taking over the parking lot and seemingly becoming stuck, and resulting in consistent honking at each other. The noise has kept residents in the area up at night, with reports stating several people in the nearby buildings have also complained about the noise. "Over the past two weeks, I've been woken up more times overnight than I have combined over 20 years," said Russell Pofsky,...

@GlobalAffairs Last night, Alexandre de Moraes threatened our legal representative in Brazil with arrest if we do not comply with his censorship orders. He did so in a secret order, which we share here to expose his actions. Despite our numerous appeals to the Supreme Court not being heard, the Brazilian public not being informed about these orders and our Brazilian staff having no responsibility or control over whether content is blocked on our platform, Moraes has chosen to threaten our staff in Brazil rather than respect the law or due process. As a result, to protect the safety of...

So, Microsoft has been threatening me all year that they're going to force everyone to use "Outlook" on their computers, getting rid of "Mail". I use Outlook on my computer for a 'side hustle' business, and do not want to intermingle my email accounts on one application - and "Mail" does everything I need for my Yahoo/Gmail/etc. accounts. I've tried looking online for some, but can't really find anything that fits the job like the simple, basic "Mail". So, reaching out to the technocrati here at FreeP to see what y'all use for e-mail on a Windows laptop?

As the US government weighs its options following a landmark “monopolist” ruling against Google last week, online publications increasingly face a bleak future. The crux of the problem lies in the Googlebot, the crawler that scours and indexes the live web to produce the results you see when you enter search terms. If publishers block Google from using...
