Need help wiping an iPad Mini without resetting password
Wipe it then put Apple ID back like setting up new ipad

Make sure you’re signed out of iCloud
I would change the password first. You could always put the same one back afterwards.
Signing out seems to be the issue.. I haven’t used it in years, and I don’t have the password written down, so know I have to change the password but I don’t remember it. And I don’t have it written down anywhere. I am connected to the Cloud, so if I change it with my phone or iPad, it should change for all three, right?
Thanks for your help everyone. I’ll get it worked out- I just get so frustrated jumping thru Apple’s hoops. 🤬
Go to “Settings”, then “General”, and then “Transfer or Reset iPad”.
Finally, at the bottom you can go to “Reset” or “Erase All Content and Settings”

If you don’t know the Apple Password welcome to about 15 days of Hell to change it.
I gave my sister a new iPhone and she did not know her Apple Password it took 15 days dealing with them to reset and get a new password.
I had it figured out this morning and was able to change it. It’s all good now, thanks.
