Elon Musk is officially Twitter's new daddy -- at least according to Elon Musk -- who says he hopes the platform will continue to be a digital town square for years to come. The Tesla/SpaceX boss explained his reasons for the $44 billion purchase Thursday, saying, "There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide in our society." He continues, "In the relentless pursuit of clicks, much of traditional media has fueled and catered to those polarized extremes, as they believe that is...

Twitter employees wrote an open letter yesterday claiming they help "uplift independent journalism." They then banned my friend's account after one of my Konnech articles went viral. Twitter employees wrote an open letter yesterday to Elon Musk demanding their new leadership not fire them. They believe "Musk's plan to lay off 75% of Twitter workers will hurt Twitter's ability to serve the public conversation." The Tweeps say, "Twitter is helping to uplift independent journalism in Ukraine and Iran…." Here's the letter: IMAGES Twitter employees also banned my friend's account yesterday after he posted one of my articles on Konnech, which...

Democrat candidate for Pennsylvania governor John Fetterman's personal physician Dr. Clifford Chen of Pittsburgh's UPMC declared the candidate "fit to serve in the US Senate. His political opponents contend that his inability to speak coherently makes him a bad choice to join the world's most famous deliberative body. However, the main business of a legislator lies not in deliberation and debate, but with making backroom deals to benefit his donors. If I didn't believe John could do that I wouldn't have donated to his campaign. My willingness to put my own money on the line should reassure voters that he...

Actress Susan Sarandon, an ardent leftist during her professional life who routinely retweets other ardent leftists, posted a message on social media akin to the message that actress Gina Carano posted in early 2021 that got her canceled. In early 2021, Carano, then starring in Disney’s “The Mandalorian,” posted a message on Instagram to illustrate her feelings about the hate directed toward political conservatives. She posted a photo with the caption: Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to...

JILA and NIST Fellow James K. Thompson's team of researchers have for the first time successfully combined two of the "spookiest" features of quantum mechanics to make a better quantum sensor: entanglement between atoms and delocalization of atoms. Einstein originally referred to entanglement as creating spooky action at a distance—the strange effect of quantum mechanics in which what happens to one atom somehow influences another atom somewhere else. Entanglement is at the heart of hoped-for quantum computers, quantum simulators and quantum sensors. A second rather spooky aspect of quantum mechanics is delocalization, the fact that a single atom can be...

Hello FReepers, looking for your recommendations for curved or curved/widescreen monitors. The type of work I do (proofreading and editing) necessitates that I upgrade from 27" to at least 32". I do a great deal of side-by-side document comparisons (of files that differ in layout and formatting), and I'm thinking that a curved (or curved & widescreen) monitor would go a long way in reducing eye and neck strain.I don't do any gaming, and the monitor I have now is more than sufficient for the small amount of graphics work that I do. But I run into problems when I...

I'm trying to solve a problem with an iPhone/ Apple account for one of my relatives. The problem is her iPhone 6 constantly asks for Apple ID verification. She says he used to do that only occasionally but now it is persistent and constant. She doesn't remember her password and the email account that Apple has on record she no longer has access to. I tried clicking on the forgot my password. It does come up with a question you "Don't have access to the email account?" I clicked that and it is still is verifying to that email account...

My step mom uses quicken to do her finances with, but is getting tired of the continual price increases, I was hoping folks that do their own finances might know of software that works for windows format that isn't outrageous. I use Excel myself, but apparently she want's something a bit more user friendly

This morning I was in the process of uploading a video I created about making the GREATEST Margarita in the world. However, I noticed there was no monetization button. When I checked further I noticed my entire channel had been demonetized (again). On top of that there was NO explanation from YouTube for the demonetization either on the dashboard or via email which always happened when they demonetized before. I checked on Twitter and it turns out that many other video creators had the same experience. For what I can piece together is that YouTube only meant to demonetize all...

A British journalist has been arrested by UK police for allegedly posting a “grossly offensive message” online. Officers from the UK’s Surrey Police force arrested journalist Caroline Farrow at her home. According to Farrow, police forced their way into her home, without a warrant, and raided the property. The officers reportedly seized Farrow’s electronic devices, took her into custody, and questioned her at Guildford Police Station. Farrow was later released but remains under investigation. The mother of five has denied posting the messages, however. She says that she was falsely accused of posting messages that were written by other people....

My name is Helena, and as of this writing I’m a 23-year-old woman who, as a teenager, believed I was transgender. In the years since detransitioning (stopping testosterone treatment and no longer seeing myself as transgender), I’ve become interested in exploring why, in the last decade, nearly every English-speaking country has seen a meteoric rise in adolescents believing they are transgender and pursuing cosmetic medical and surgical interventions. Here, I’d like to go over how and why I came to see myself as transgender, the process of transitioning, and the events leading up to and following my detransition. The short...

Konnech Inc has various products deployed within the U.S. Election Systems and abroad. Some products have to do with oversea voting under UOCAVA provisions, and other products help disabled voters vote without going to a polling location. These products are often connected to the internet via smartphone applications utilizing cloud services that connect to the hardware. Konnech has deployed phone applications for over a decade while most of the public was still learning how to use their smartphones. Konnech has contracts with countless counties all over the United States, deploying their products to this day. Konnech has many products that...

- Bill Gates is sounding the alarm on political polarization in the US. - "Political polarization may bring it all to an end, we're going to have a hung election and a civil war," he told Forbes recently. - Gates, who has been the target of many conspiracy theories over the years, also pointed out the dangers of misinformation. Bill Gates usually focuses on issues like poverty and infectious diseases through his charitable foundation, but another problem on his mind is the polarization of US politics. "I admit that political polarization may bring it all to an end, we're...

This week, whistle-blowers in the Department of Justice revealed that since Biden took office Facebook has been forwarding copies of the private correspondence of its customers to the FBI. "I want to clarify that it's not all of our customers whose communications have been passed on," Erica Sackin, a spokesperson at Facebook's parent company Meta, said. "Only those who have questioned the legitimacy of President Biden's 2020 election victory have been targeted. As the President made clear in his recent speech, the country's democracy is being attacked by malicious MAGA extremists. It is every American's patriotic duty to help the...

John Durham’s team has known of these discrepancies for years but has failed to hold responsible those who used the CIA to target a political opponent with false smears. Awhitepaper obtained first by The Federalist suggests Special Counsel John Durham botched the investigation of a second Russia collusion hoax, the one concerning Yota cellphones. In a scandal linked to the Spygate operation, Hillary Clinton cronies peddled to the CIA fake evidence they claimed established Donald Trump and his associates were using the Russian-made Yota cellphones in the vicinity of the White House and other key locations. The news of this...

A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY The New York Times reported that the Justice Department issued about 40 subpoenas for communications of former President Donald J. Trump advisers over the past week. They are seeking information about their actions related to the 2020 election and the Jan. 6, 2021, “attack on the Capitol.” It was not an attack on the Capitol. There was a riot. Most people harassed and jailed by the DOJ were just walking around inside the Capitol without permission. The people at the Capitol came unarmed. It couldn’t compare with the years of Antifa and Black Lives Matter violence...

Gab is an amazing social media forum. They don't moderate users, well except for porn and direct threats of violence. It also has more features than Truth Social, Twitter, and even Facebook. I even created a group (just now) and made it private called "Freerepublic". I'm hoping more users go there to experience what freedom on the Internet is like. Also here's a tip: You can create your own filters to block things you don't want to see. Like N-word, Hitler, Obama, etc...

| Get ready to be shocked. Another “mistake” by a social media company just so happened to benefit Democrats heading into an election. Isn’t it so weird how that keeps happening? In this case, Snap (formerly known as Snapchat), says it “inadvertently” exposed collected data on Republican voters to Democrat firms. Those firms then used that data to target political ads before the mid-terms. Axios has the story, though they frame it exactly as you’d expect. A slip-up by social media giant Snap allowed leading Democratic campaigns and party committees to unwittingly tap into a vast repository of Republican voter...
