Communist Cuba tells Obama exactly what he will get from his historic visit to Havana: Nothing. Castro's mouthpiece says regime will not 'renounce any of its principles' Cuba said it would welcome President Barack Obama to Havana later this month, but the Communist government had no intention of changing its policies in exchange for normal relations with the United States. In a long editorial on Wednesday in Communist Party newspaper Granma and other official media, Cuba demanded Washington cease meddling in its internal affairs and said Obama could do more to change U.S. policy. The March 20-22 visit from Obama...

Cuba began its biggest military maneuvers in five years on Thursday, saying they were needed to prepare for a possible invasion by the United States. Despite a thaw in U.S.-Cuba relations and assurances last week by President Barack Obama that the United States has no intention of invading the island 90 miles from Florida, Cuba's state-run press quoted military leaders as saying there "exists a real possibility of a military aggression against Cuba." The war games, which are being called "Bastion 2009," also will get the military ready to deal with social unrest the United States may try to foment...

Editor’s note: Get the whole story of the Left’s love affair with Castro in Jamie Glazov’s new book, “United in Hate: The Left’s Romance With Tyranny and Terror.” The Left’s romance with tyranny and terror continues. This time it is Democrat Rep. Diane Watson picking up the torch for the fellow travelers, lavishing praise on Fidel Castro. Watson, evidently, is still riding the wave of ecstasy she experienced upon prostrating herself before Castro on her political pilgrimage to the dictator’s slave camp in April, 2009. Now, in a recent town hall meeting on health care, she’s touching base with the...

During this brief period John McCain either successfully teaches a national course entitled "Who is Barack Obama, and What Will he do as President", or Obama gains the most powerful position in human history -- completely unknown to the electorate who will have given him the job. The story of how Obama is now approaching the pinnacle of earthly political power without ever having to answer for his views, his closest associations, his voting record or his public statements is now depressingly familiar:

Other than the right to bear children well into one’s 60s and unashamedly express the love of one’s own mama, former Sen. Fred Thompson and I agree on just about nothing. He’s anti-choice (and would overturn Roe v. Wade), he doubts humanity’s responsibility for global warming and he not only supported the invasion of Iraq, but wants to keep boots on the ground till the proverbial cows come home, which, hope-soaked hearings to the contrary, seems to be when the whole Middle East is turned to pasture. Granted, the man thinks “mistakes have been made,” but he also believes that...

Leftism is one grand, evolving lie. Leftist use all the tricks which Aristotle warned against - attacking premises by attacking the proponent; flattering particular groups; relying upon official "truth" as proof; and drawing false conclusions - and by these tricks, Leftists can support any particular branch of the Leftist lie for awhile. Leftist lies, masked as truth, are not immune to the crucible of human experience, but Leftist "history" is routinely filled with oceans of trivia and no inconvenient facts.

An anti-Castro paramilitary group claims it shot -- but did not kill -- a former spy who lived in Miami and was linked to the Cuban military's shoot-down of two Brothers to the Rescue planes. Rodolfo Frometa, director of Comandos F-4, said his group was involved in the Dec. 19 shooting of Juan Pablo Roque. He said Roque was in serious or critical condition at a Havana hospital, but the incident could not be independently confirmed. Roque's bodyguard was killed, as was the gunman, identified as Ramón Sosa, 32, an operative in one of Comandos F-4's clandestine cells within the...
