Tonight's list of FReepers & FRiends in attendance (If I missed anyone - please let me know!): BillF, Bill from MD*, Cindy-True-Supporter, Fraxinus, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Kristinn, Laura Bush, PleaDeal, PrezUSA222, R.T. Hear Hillary's explanation about voting to go to war in Iraq. This is before she knew what she knows now although she says in the video she has been following the situation in Iraq for more than a decade. Who knew President Bush was duping her from 1993 onward--before he was even President! Darn he's got some powers.

Chaos erupted Wednesday outside a House briefing with Army Gen. David Petraeus, the U.S. military commander on the ground in Iraq. Protestors thronged the halls of the Rayburn House Office Building outside the committee room where Petraeus is briefing members of Congress. The assembled protestors, which included members of Code Pink, shouted for members to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq as the lawmakers entered the room. Then, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, the ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, called on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to resign after suggesting the war in Iraq “is lost.”...

Last night at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic was paid a visit by a film crew from French-Canadian TV 3 out of Quebec. The crew was there working on a story about Code Pink and they came up from the Pinkos' spot in front of Walter Reed to get our views on the war in Iraq.Gael Murphy led a contingent of Pinkos up the block to our permitted area at the main gate so she could get some footage of the Pinkos 'dialoguing' with the Freepers for the film crew. One of the Pinkos called...

FROMMER, Associated Press Writer 53 minutes ago The mother of a Marine who tried to kill himself after two tours of duty in Iraq was arrested Monday while protesting the war outside the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record). Tina Richards of Salem, Ore., was charged with disorderly conduct, said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, a U.S. Capitol Police spokeswoman. Schneider said Richards would be issued a citation and released. Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, D-Calif., said Richards was with a group of 15 to 20 protesters when...

The moon may have been full last week, but I'm thinking there must have been a delayed effect on the Code Pink moonbats from down the street. "The Easter Bunny from Hell" showed up and did a little dance for our intrepid photographer Yikes! It doesn't get any scarier than that. Glad we keep the kids away from the moonbats or they'll be scarred for life. Mrs Trooprally appropriately titled the photo "I am a Moron" on her Photobucket site. Fortunately for the troops the moonbats are relegated to a spot down the street from the main entrance where few...

4/9: Cluster Bomb, WMD&bin Laden Hunt outside White House's Easter Egg Roll -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reply to: event-294810909@craigslist.org Date: 2007-03-15, 11:47PM EDT We're doing a new kind of demonstration outside the White House to bring attention to the civilian costs of war and cooked "intelligence" as an excuse to bomb and invade. It's called a Cluster Bomb and WMD/bin Laden Hunt and it will take place April 9 outside the White House Easter Monday when the White House is doing their Easter Egg Hunt. We expect 40,000 people to be crossing Lafayette Square and dozens of media. It's very family-orientated and designed...

Getting arrested is becoming blasé for Midgelle Regina Potts. Born Mitchell Eugene Potts, Midge changed her name last year to reflect her belief that she is a woman. She has been arrested five times in Washington. There were the two times protesting in front of the White House, another at the Supreme Court, another at the Senate Gallery and still another at Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) office when she sat reading the names of dead soldiers. She has a date in court on May 15. “They’re all misdemeanors,” she says, passing the arrests off as just another day in the...

An anti-war group, Code Pink, is hounding Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) at almost every stop she makes on the campaign trail, hitting her again yesterday as she joined other candidates in seeking a union endorsement. Standing in front of the Capitol Hill Hyatt Regency, the group made its presence known, inviting a sea of union members from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to “go back downstairs and kiss Hillary’s a--.” While the group of laborers, enjoying cigarettes between speakers at the Communications Workers of America (CWA) forum, looked on with bemused interest, the protesters sang songs and waved...

-- Walter Reed FReep Week #101 With No Let Up In Sight!Washington, DC, March 23, 2007-- A very happy crowd gathered tonight to celebrate our heroes and continue our opposition to the Hate America First crowd waaaaaay down the block. Code Pink showed up in larger than usual numbers (13) most likely due to their humiliation at the hands of the patriots who joined the Gathering Of Eagles last weekend on the Mall. We had 25 patriots that filled all 4 corners at the gate quite nicely!First, an update from the Gathering of Eagles. FReeper TFroatz had not one,...

I was arrested last week in a Capitol police abuse of power upon leaving a Congressional hearing on FBI abuses of our civil liberties. Most FReepers have heard by now of the seizure of 15 British sailors by Iran. A number of threads have mentioned the possibilty of torture; and it has come out that at least one of the detainees is a woman. With that in mind, I decided to surf over to the website of a well-known group of women activists who are concerned with the treatment of prisoners, to find their take on the matter. Yes, Code Pink. Or as I will call them from now on, Code Punked. “CODEPINK is a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to...

Echoes of the past are heard as vets gather in D.C. to back the troops, oppose war protesters. Chris Hill visits the Wall every Veterans Day. He follows the path to Panel 4W, Line 36, and stops at the name Curtis R. Smoot. It's the same name on the POW-MIA bracelet Hill has worn for 22 years. Hill picked up the bracelet at an ROTC recruitment table in high school. He didn't know Smoot, but the bracelet was a poignant reminder of service and sacrifice during Hill's years with the Seventh Infantry Division in the late 1980s. At Panel 4W,...

Code Pink is seeing red, as anti-war activists take a more aggressive and confrontational approach in spreading their message of peace. Protesters in the past two weeks have held sit-ins from Capitol Hill to California, disrupted congressional hearings and argued publicly with lawmakers -- even anti-war ones. "We've stepped up our tactics because we feel betrayed," said Medea Benjamin, spokeswoman for Code Pink, which wants an immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Tuesday night, an anti-war activist donning a pink scarf sneaked into a D.C. fundraiser for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and was forcibly removed after interrupting the New York Democrat's speech,...

Reading about the big disarray that Congress is in I keep thinking of the Car 54, Where Are You? Tune. jerry639 posted that he thinks of I've got a tiger by the tail..... Okay, here is your opportunity to write a theme song based on Congressional Disarray. I'll start off with one stanza of my own 'Rat 54, Where Are You but feel free to add your own material to that tune or come up with a new parody song on this subject. Here goes: There's a holdup in Committee, The floor has broken out in fights. CODEPINK takes over...

Four members of the anti-war group Code Pink were arrested outside the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Thursday afternoon, following an announcement that they would seek to take over the office. The group’s members had planned to hold a symbolic “Pin the war on the Donkey” demonstration at Pelosi’s office to show their frustration with the Democratic leadership’s inaction on ending the war in Iraq. However, Capitol Police prevented the taping of a drawn donkey to the wall. Code Pink members were crying outside Pelosi’s office. When asked why, Rae Abileah, 24, said she was crying out of...

Capitol Police protect Pelosi By Michelle Malkin · March 22, 2007 10:02 PM The Capitol Police couldn't or wouldn't stop anti-war thugs from vandalizing government property in January. But they made sure to protect Nancy Pelosi's office from anti-war protesters who wanted to embarrass her today: Four members of the anti-war group Code Pink were arrested outside the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Thursday afternoon, following an announcement that they would seek to take over the office.
