A 911 call to report a kidnapping on the south side leads police to stash house full of illegal immigrants. Just after 7:00 Thursday morning, a woman called 911 saying her husband had been kidnapped. Police came to the house in the 10,000 block of South Epperson Lane. That's near Nogales Highway and Summit Street. Fourty-one illegal immigrants were taken for questioning from the home.

Federal officials on Friday raided a squalid house and found 70 illegal immigrants and four suspected smugglers, authorities said. Federal agents and a sheriff's SWAT team entered the house about 6 a.m., setting off flash-bang grenades as a diversion because there was concern that some of the immigrants were being held hostage, said Frank Johnston, an assistant special agent in charge with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. U.S. Border Patrol agents on Monday morning arrested 74 suspected illegal immigrants, all Mexican citizens, at a drop house near 1st Street and Avenue C just outside Yuma city limits. Joe Brigman, spokesman for the Border Patrol's Yuma sector, said agents were alerted to the two-story house after receiving an anonymous call from a concerned citizen who reported suspicious activity at the residence. The Monday morning incident marks the third time this month federal agents have shut down houses in Yuma County used for harboring smuggled aliens.
