Reuters is reporting that 3 Palestinians were shot dead trying to stab Israelis. One of the incidents occurred near Hebron where an armed Israeli civilian shot and killed a Palestinian terrorist coming at him with a knife. There were contradictory accounts of one of the shootings, near a Jewish settlement in the West Bank city of Hebron. The lieutenant governor of Tennessee is encouraging his “fellow Christians” to go out and get handgun permits in the wake of the Oregon college shooting. Lt. Gov. Reflecting on my experiences carrying a gun daily for near a couple of decades, I figured out that I’ve learned a couple of things. Here’s a short list.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has posted the new reciprocity list for the State, in order to meet the requirements of the gun law reform passed in 2015.  As expected of an appointee of an openly disarmist governor, the list approved by the Commissioner of Public Safety is very restrictive, removing four states for minor differences in the law, and adding eight states or state permits that have limited numbers. From the CRPC John Lott and the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) have produced another paper on what is happening with concealed carry permit numbers and the various states.  There is considerable good information contained in the report, which shows a correlation between the number of permits and a decreasing crime rate. In May of 2015, Minnesota enacted an omnibus firearm reform law.  The law went into effect yesterday, 1 August, 2015. One of the reforms was a change in the wording for Minnesota to recognize permits from other states.  The previous wording required that the other State's law be "substantially similar" to Minnesota's permit law.  The Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety is required to publish a list, and if the State that a person has a permit for is not on the list, then the permit is considered valid.  Here is the old law, that ceased effect on...
