Armed Israeli Civilian Shoots and Kills Knife-Wielding Palestinian

Reuters is reporting that 3 Palestinians were shot dead trying to stab Israelis. One of the incidents occurred near Hebron where an armed Israeli civilian shot and killed a Palestinian terrorist coming at him with a knife.

There were contradictory accounts of one of the shootings, near a Jewish settlement in the West Bank city of Hebron. Israel said a Palestinian attempted to stab an Israeli civilian, who was carrying a gun and then shot and killed the attacker.

But a Palestinian man told Reuters that his daughter, a high school student, witnessed the shooting and said it happened when Jewish settlers attacked an unarmed Palestinian.

Hmmmm. There is a solution to this. If those dang Israeli's would quit carrying EVIL guns, fewer palestinians would be massacred and ambushed with knives planted as evidence of their misdeeds. Ref. the 'palestinian man's' daughters "eyewitness" account of the ambush.

I read articles like this yet I also read other articles that it is really tough for Israelis to get permission to arm themselves, except in special areas, like settlements. I’d really like to find something definitive about the reality of being an Israeli citizen seeking to be armed for personal protection.

Jewbacca replied to a post the other day about it and it is NOT that easy for civilians to be armed. But apparently some areas are at least easing the restrictions some. I did post something about it but maybe some FReeper listening in this morning has further info.

Which means the exact opposite is true.

Also in Hebron, a Palestinian woman stabbed an Israeli border policewoman, cutting her hand, a police spokesman said. The policewoman shot the attacker, he said.

In Israel, the policy is to carry your weapon without a round being chambered. I always thought this was a dangerous policy and I think that even more now. This policewoman was darn lucky she had enough time to rack her pistol and get off a shot, especially since she was wounded in one hand.
