In Israel, the policy is to carry your weapon without a round being chambered. I always thought this was a dangerous policy and I think that even more now. This policewoman was darn lucky she had enough time to rack her pistol and get off a shot, especially since she was wounded in one hand.
That's correct, for some Israeli pistoleros. On the other hand, they teach both the *slingshot* technique for getting a round chambered, and one-handed drills for doing so if one arm is disabled or grabbed.
And, on my last visit there last year [my fifth] I was told *not to bother with that empty chamber nonsense.* I carried a Glock 17 lent to me until I got to my host's residence, whereupon I retrieved my Browning GP and felt much better.
