Jesus, take the wheel. Carrie Underwood had a quick response to the technical difficulties that preceded her performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday. The “American Idol” winner, 41, was slated to sing “America the Beautiful” at the ceremony inside the US Capitol with the accompaniment of the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club. However, she was ultimately left without a band or an instrumental track. The moment Underwood learned the bad news was caught on camera. In a clip from the ceremony shared on social media, someone with a headset approaches the “Before He...

Many in the media are racing to report the story of a Christian singer who has lost his faith. But there’s another, less told story also going around: That of a country singer loving God in the midst of suffering. Released by the Christian nonprofit I Am Second, the four-episode show promises to give “insight as to how they, with two distinct personalities and careers, stay grounded in...

She said she was disheartened when she turned to a worldwide registry of donors and none were compatible. "It was 30 million people," she said. "Thirty million people, and no matches for me." So Rabaca and the rest of her family partnered with Be The Match, an organization operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, to encourage people to register to donate bone marrow. Thanks to their fierce campaigning, Rabaca's story spread and gained attention from the likes of country singer Carrie Underwood, who asked her Twitter followers, "who wants to save a life for Christmas?" In a matter of...

Barack Obama's reaction to Tuesday's big election loss for the Democrats was mocked at the Country Music Awards by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. If their act looks somewhat familiar, they were the same duo who mocked ObamaCare last year at the same show. They also took some potshots at Taylor Swift for seeming to have abandoned country music which they worked into the routine:

The live production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein 1959 Broadway musical, also starred "True Bloods" star Stephen Moyer as Maria's employer and love interest, the strict Capt. Georg Von Trapp; Laura Benanti as the Captain's fiancée, Elsa Schrader; multiple Tony Award-winner and "Private Practice" star Audra McDonald as Mother Abbess and "Smash" alum Christian Borle as family friend Max Detweiler. Somehow, each supporting star outshined Underwood in a show fraught with numerous problems, which were promptly maligned on social media. ... Kym Karath, who played Gretl Von Trapp in the film, echoed the family's sentiments. "Love Carrie Underwood but this...

NBC’s big winter gamble paid off: The Sound of Music Live! delivered a massive audience Thursday night. The three-hour performance of the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical delivered 18.5 million viewers and a great 4.6 rating among adults 18-49. This is NBC’s biggest Thursday in the adult demo excluding sports since the ER finale in 2009. Obviously, it’s also far and away NBC’s strongest non-sports Thursday performance this season; the network has had all sorts of ratings headaches on this night given its troubled comedy block. Sound of Music was Thursday’s most-watched show and tied CBS’ Big Bang Theory in...

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood ripped into ObamaCare during their 2013 CMA Awards opening on Tuesday. The pair kicked off a rant about the faulty Affordable Care Act website after the country crooner “injured” himself “twerking.” “I started signing up last Thursday and I’m almost done,” quipped Underwood. The duo then went on to try getting Paisley signed up, launching into a parody song spoofing the problematic roll-out. The audience’s reaction? Plenty of hoots and hollers.

Though video the CMA Awards’ opening act mocking Obamacare went almost immediately viral, not everyone thought the skit was funny. In fact, some on the left were downright furious that the awards show dared to mock President Barack Obama and his signature health care law. As reported by TheBlaze, country music superstars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood performed “Obamacare by Morning,” a spoof based on George Strait’s remake of Terry Stafford’s 1973 classic “Amarillo by Morning,” after Paisley faked a back injury. The crowd erupted in applause and sent the Internet buzzing. Even the “Duck Dynasty” crew made a surprise...

Last night during the opening act of the CMA Awards in Nashville, country music hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood released their new smash hit: Obamacare by Morning, a spin off of George Strait's famous song, Amarillo by Morning. Underwood: Hey, do you have that Obamacare? Paisley: Obamacare, what' that? Underwood: Oh! It's great! It's great! I started signing up last Thursday and I'm almost done. Let's go to the website and get you signed up. Let's see, it can't be too hard right? Paisley: Why's it spinning? Underwood: Oh, it does that. Paisley: Why's it smoking? Underwood: Maybe we...

Blake Shelton captured album of the year, Miranda Lambert won female vocalist of the year and Taylor Swift was honored with the Pinnacle award for her achievements, but it was George Strait who won the night's top honor at the Country Music Awards — entertainer of the year. Strait, who is retiring from the road, nabbed his third trophy in the category but hadn't won the prestigious award since 1990. He capped a night where there was no clear favorite. Shelton, Swift, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and Florida Georgia Line won two awards each.

Paisley and Underwood sang a little song mocking Obamacare. It was great.

That’s right, hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood had a special segment and even song mocking the failed health care rollout that featured the pair pretending to sign up for Obamacare and then crooning about the failure. It all started while the pair was singing a new version of “Why Can’t We Be Friends” that faked feuds between some of country music’s biggest stars (including Kenny Rogers) and Paisley stopping abruptly to complain about back pain. That’s when Underwood suggested trying to sign up for Obamacare. “I started signing up last Thursday and I’m almost done,” she said with a...

Pop star Carrie Underwood should take her own advice, which she provided in one of her top hits, and let “Jesus Take the Wheel.” In an interview with the London Independent, Underwood, an “American Idol” winner who professes to be a follower of Jesus, expressed her passionate support for same-sex marriage. Here’s some of what she had to say about that: “I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry. … I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and...

Country music superstar and American Idol, Carrie Underwood has come out in support of gay marriage in a new interview with England's The Independent, citing her marriage, to hockey player Mike Fisher, and Christian faith for her conviction. "As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry," she said, a surprising comment from a star whose fan base lies so squarely in the conservative heart of the country. "I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to...

I’ve always thought well of Carrie Underwood, the season four winner of “American Idol.” I even have her praise and worship song, “Jesus Take the Wheel,” on my Ipod. Alas, “the country Christian gal from Oklahoma,” as E!Online described her, has gone Hollywood on us. In an interview with The Independent, a British tabloid, Underwood declared her support for same-sex marriage. “As I married person myself,” she said, “I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all...

Vegas went Country or Country went Vegas as the 45th Annual ACM (Academy of Country Music) Awards were held Sunday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Hosted by the affable Reba McEntire, our fave Taylor Swift, who performed an eye-catching performance of Change was surprisingly shut out of the awards with Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood dominating the proceedings. It was truly a Country night for the Ladies. We liked the 2010 ACM Awards Red Carpet as Country went glamorous, chic and stylish as well as Vegas. The stars of Country Music and the many-fold Celebs...
