I have a 41 yo niece who had a sudden onset of FND 2 weeks ago. She still can't talk, only can walk with assistance (meaning she literally has to be held up - like a baby learning to walk), not sure what else. She petite, was in an ATV accident when she was 16 & damaged her head, yet not brain damage. She, her hubby, parents & friends have never heard nor had experience with it. Does anyone here have experience with this?

A lovely couple & their families could use all the prayers they can get. Earlier this year the wife (32) was diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal cancer. As it’s rare they had to leave WA St for California for treatment. On Monday the husband (35) was taking a walk & collapsed. Strangers found him & called 911. He apparently had a undiagnosed heart condition. He has always been active, seemingly healthy. He is in a medically induced coma. His kidneys are failing & needs a heart transplant. It is a dire situation. They have 3 children (9, 7, 3). Their family, friends...

The Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board recently released the “Deed Restrictions” for George Air Force Base that are required by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) §120(h). Because of these CERCLA §120(h) Deed Restrictions, we now know that there were numerous Completed Exposure Pathways (CEPs) to the George AFB personnel, their families, civilian employees, and the surrounding community. The contaminated buildings, soil, air, upper and lower aquifers (these contaminated aquifers were the source for municipal and domestic drinking water supply wells for George AFB, Adelanto, several homes, and the Victor Valley Country Club) provided the Completed...

...Wilson was arrested early Tuesday by federal authorities who say he left a string of obscenity-laced phone threats at Murray’s Seattle office over nearly two weeks ending Sunday.Wilson is accused of leaving multiple threatening voice- mail messages between March 22 and Sunday, apparently motivated by his anger over the health-care reform bill recently passed by Congress.“I hope you realize, there’s a target on your back now. There are many people who want you dead.... It only takes one piece of lead. Kill the (expletive) senator. Kill the (expletive) senator. I’ll donate the lead.” In the most recent message, the caller...

My friend has received notice he is eligible for TARP money through Wells Fargo where he has his home loan. They qualify for 30%-50% reduction. He lost his job, his wife lost her job and they both found new jobs but each at a lesser salary.Their question that I have no idea how to answer is:On their TARP notice it stated their mortgage is more than double what their mortgage actually is. Their house value at the time of the mortgage was 450,000 and the TARP shows the mortgage is $935,000. I couldn't off-hand explain except to say it may...

Canvassing for President Obama is much like working as a door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman. The product may be great, but it may not be enough to clinch a deal. On Saturday morning in the Avenues of Salt Lake City, Maggie Flanigan and Rose Nelson are knocking on doors, hard at work for the Obama agenda. They seek to gather signatures from people who support Obama's ambitious $3.6 trillion proposed budget and his plans to reform the country's energy policies, improve health care and fix the education system. Flanigan, 14, and Nelson, 15, are among hundreds of Obama supporters who took...

VICTORVILLE —Victor Valley Union High School District teachers have been coached on a new approach to disciplining students. At issue is whether teachers need to adjust how they interact with and discipline students who misbehave, particularly students from difficult backgrounds. Culberson, director of youth services for the San Bernardino City Unified School District, said at a back-to-school inservice meeting that students today have less respect for authority than they did when many teachers were in school and consequently, some teachers have unrealistic expectations of their students. The district superintendent, Julian Weaver, said Culberson’s message does not represent a change in...

It didn't take long for the veneer to wear off. Moments after Mexican President Vicente Fox's motorcade passed by, some in the group let loose. "Go home, Fox!" a protester shouted. "And take them with you!" another screamed. By "them," the protesters were referring to illegal immigrants, one of the nation's hottest hot-buttons in recent memory. The protesters, which Yakima police said numbered about 80, jeered the motorcade from a carefully restricted rally site. They held aloft a wide variety of signs with messages including "Fine Those Who Hire Illegals" and "Don't export your poverty to America." Many waved American...

VICTORVILLE — For using the "G" word 41 times in a term paper, Bethany Hauf was given an "F" by her Victor Valley Community College instructor. Hauf's teacher approved her term paper topic — Religion and its Place within the Government — on one condition: Don't use the word God. Instead of complying with VVCC adjunct instructor Michael Shefchik's condition Hauf wrote a 10-page report for her English 101 class entitled "In God...

Trail of Patriotism (United States Heritage Award -New Boy Scout Award) By Paul Rondina / Guest Columnist Friday, February 7, 2003 Sometimes the smallest deed or thought can lead to larger outcomes than ever imagined. Kim Steadman of Marlborough, who has been very involved in the Boy Scouts of America, decided that there ought to be a way to encourage young people's sense of patriotic feelings for our American heritage. Yes, we all get taught American history in school, recite the Pledge of Allegiance or sing the Star Spangled Banner, but she wanted to do something more. She got the...
