A federal judge on Friday temporarily halted deportations of eight immigrants to war-torn South Sudan the day after the Supreme Court greenlighted their removal, saying new claims by the immigrants’ lawyers deserved a hearing.
District Judge Randolph Moss proceeded with the extraordinary Fourth of July hearing on Friday afternoon, directing the Trump administration to discuss whether a prior Supreme Court ruling that immigrants slated for removal under an 18th century wartime act invoked by President Donald Trump deserve due process might also apply to those due to be removed to South Sudan.
The administration has been trying to deport the immigrants for weeks. None are from South Sudan, which is enmeshed in civil war and where the U.S government advises no one should travel before making their own funeral arrangements. The government flew them to Djibouti but couldn’t move them further because a Massachusetts court had ruled no immigrant could be sent to a new country without a chance to have a court hearing.
The Supreme Court vacated that decision last month, then Thursday night issued a new order clarifying that that meant the immigrants could be moved to South Sudan. Lawyers for the immigrants, who hail from Laos, Mexico, Myanmar, Vietnam and other countries, filed an emergency request to halt their removal later that night.

Apparently SCOTUS rulings no longer mean anything. To Democrats, that is. Conservatives still have to obey rulings by the Court.
So, is Chief Justice Roberts and the Court just going to shrug their shoulders and say "oops, we were overruled"?
How can a judge block what the SCOTUS ruled on?
He did NOT block it unless DJT accepts his blocking. A district judge cannot overrule the USSC.
If precedence is followed up and down the heirarchy we ill have traffic courts overruling state Consttutions.
In the name of Judge Wopner I unblock it!
Come on Trump disregard the scumbags order, you’ll be on firm ground.
I thought the Supreme Court is the freakin law of the land, is it or is it not..seriously JUST DEPORT THEM, sick of this BS..this “judge” has ZERO say in the matter, ZERO
He can’t. Thats why the fig leaf of “new claims” is being used.
Judge Moss isn’t overruling SCOTUS, oh no, these are new claims that weren’t considered or addressed before. This is a whole new ball of wax. /s
It’s a load of bovine execrement.
Where are the illegal getting the lawyers to appeal to all of these Federal Judges—lawyers with the ability to get Federal Judges to rule in the middle of the night and on Federal holidays?
Do ordinary Americans, like, I don’t know, the January 6 people get such swift judicial hearings?
a judge can’t.
Load um up, ship um out.
Perhaps the judges should be deported.
Roberts is responsible for all of this.
“Apparently SCOTUS rulings no longer mean anything.”

Roberts is pathetically weak and equivocal and has not sent any clear or definitive messages to firmly guide the courts. It was inevitable that the courts would fill the vacuum created by SCOTUS’ timidness and become dangerously assertive. Roberts probably won’t do anything about it. He’s worse than useless.
Roberts is responsible for all of this.
You’re correct. Roberts has been wishy-washy and keeps giving the leftist judges loopholes to do as they wish.
Also, for the left the definition of “due process” is continued hearings until they get the ruling they wish.
“Due process” for an invasion is absurd. Just need to make sure they’re not here legally—and out they go.
But the Trump Admin continues to look the other way from all the treasonous NGOs that funded and organized the invasion. So it’s on them too. We’ve got onesy-twosy deportations of hardened criminals now—and are in line for the floodgates to open again with the next Dem regime. But the 60 million here now are more than enough to tank the country.

Average citizens are the ‘Forgotten Man’.
Who cares what the Supreme Fart says?
Update: Emergency proceedings are underway related to the potential deportation of 8 men to South Sudan before Judge Randy Moss in Washington.
The men are teed up to be transferred at 7pm tonight. But Moss is sending the case to MA, where he says it should be handled.
Moss granted a 1 hour stay to give lawyers for the men a chance to file their emergency claim in Massachusetts.
Lawyer for Trump administration says they will appeal to the Supreme Court immediatelty.
MOSS has grave concerns about facilitating the deportation of people to potentially life threatening circumstances in South Sudan, but he thinks his hands are tied by the Supreme Court’s stay yesterday.
Still, he says the SCOTUS rulings were devoid of reasoning so it’s not totally clear.
Moss essentially said he couldn’t help but would send case to MA. The lawyers for the men aren’t sure tehy can raise a judge on July 4th in time to even ask for relief ahead of 7pm deportation.
