Israel and South Africa were both targets of the Communist world during the Cold War though Jewish libs and "paleocons" still deny it. It's bad enough that various hypocrites tie themselves in knots claiming that South Africa is on the "right" and Israel is on the "left" without a Chief Rabbi (meaning Orthodox) feeling the need to "tip toe" to avoid offending such people.

Ironically, it has long been forgotten that at one time the Afrikaners were solidly on the Left. The Left supported them during the Boer Wars (which were interpreted as wars against capitalism) and one Afrikaner member of the SA parliament in the early 20th century caused a furor by singing the old socialist song The Red Flag. As late as the 1920s one of the complaints of South African socialists was that capitalism didn't care what color one's skin was (while socialists did).

Similarly the ancestors of many American farmers in the Midwest and elsewhere were radical Left in their economic views back in the 1890's. Some of that old leftist anti-capitalism still exists in some of the rhetoric against "finance capital," "usury," and You Know Who.

Vance is not a Latin mass traditionalist, and to my knowledge has not involved himself in theological controversies within Catholicism. But he is a Millennial convert drawn to Catholicism by its mind as well as its heart, and by its deep intellectual roots.

What about all those thousands and thousands of simple illiterate peasants who made up so much of the Catholic Church over the centuries? They don't count. Anyone drawn to their piety and simplicity is out of luck, because all the potential converts will here from their conversion attempts is rationalism, intellectualism, and philosophy.

I'm confused by the current trend of conservatives praising Huxley and Brave New World. Wasn't he a scion of the Huxley family who supported Charles Darwin and later established the new age UNESCO agency? Also, there was a time when Brave New World was accused to supporting Communism.
