Christians expelled from Homs From the Syrian secularist website al-Haqiqa. Arabic original here. For more information about the Islamist makeup of the "Free Syrian Army" from a source generally sympathetic to the rebels, see here. For an excellent analysis of the bias and misinformation about Syria in American media, see here. Armed men from the Faruq Brigade have succeeded in expelling most of the Christians of Homs and have seized their homes by force. Al-Haqiqa has learned from church sources in Homs that the city has been emptied of almost 90% of its Christians. It is expected that a complete...

Reading: This Saint was from Bethsaida of Galilee; he was the son of Jonas and the brother of Peter, the chief of the Apostles. He had first been a disciple of John the Baptist; afterwards, on hearing the Baptist's witness concerning Jesus, when he pointed Him out with his finger and said, "Behold the Lamb of God, Which taketh away the sin of the world" (John 1.29,36), he straightway followed Christ, and became His first disciple; wherefore he is called the First-called of the Apostles. After the Ascension of the Saviour, he preached in various lands; and having suffered...

By His Grace Bishop BASIL (Essey) Mary the Theotokos is very close to my heart, and, I am certain, close to the hearts of all who love her Son, Jesus. I can hardly think of her name without tears. When God, in the fullness of time, because of His great love for His creation, sent His Only-Begotten Son to save us sinners, He chose to do so in a way that is at once simple and tender, and profound, beyond our comprehension. He came to find a bride. And God the Father, who is above all and in all and...

"Ditch the claptrap that we can't kill our way out of this: Well-focused killing, for decades, is our only chance - and Afghanistan's. And dump the feel-good platitudes. In the real world off-campus, good marksmanship trumps good will."

Usually I lurk and read, so if I have violated posting rules, I apologize unreservedly...BUT... Did it strike anyone else today, while witnessing chIRAQ's finger-pointing, lecturn-pounding performance in which he finally threatened to veto a new resolution.... That if the French had defended Paris with the kind of vigor with which chIRAQ is defending Saddam Hussein, France might actually have been able to maintain its prominence as a world power?

Sorry for the vanity, O My Brothers (and Sisters). But I have to float this out there for you. Alwhore's "Code Word" shtick is a batting practice fastball. Here's how I think Gov. Bush should handle it. Please let me know what you think, then I'll go back to lurking. {Governor Bush should have a copy of the Constitution with him for dramatic effect} The Vice President has made an issue of my desire to appoint Supreme Court Justices who meet the criteria of "Strict Constructionist". That is, Justices who will perform the duties assigned to them by the Constitution ...

There is one other noteworthy event that took place in Hollywood Monday night. Before Mr. Lieberman spoke, Larry David, who was executive producer of "Seinfeld," gave a speech in which he derided Gov. Bush as a "smirking" lightweight who is "making it possible for a lot of idiots like myself to actually consider running for office." Then Mr. David, who is Jewish, ridiculed the Texas governor's faith. "Like Bush," he said, "I too found Christ in my 40s. He came into my room one night, and I said: 'What, no call? You just pop in?' " ...Mr. Lieberman was quoted ...

I was just wondering if anyone else here in Freeperland has an opinion about Alwhore's plan to "Pay off the national debt in 12 years". If I hear this drivel one more time, I think I'm gonna stroke right on out. I mean, lowering the Federal debt burden is probably a great idea. It would keep interest rates lower by paring back the Federal Government's incremental borrowing costs (the less debt you have, the cheaper you can borrow, generally speaking). But since that Louse from Arkansas is so fond of saying "Invest in America", let's look at this in terms ...
