I still have my PUKIN DOGS T-shirt from my 1996 deployment on the GW. I've had a dozen chances to sell it, some were former dogs others just liked the name. Only the dogs had a clue as to where the name came from.

Think about it, Whether Kobe is convicted or not that ring is a moneymaker on E-bay. It probably won't make up for the lost endorsement money but it should buy plenty of Escalades, blow and bimbos for a few years after his release from the minimum security prison if he's convicted. Even if he walks the ring is still worth twice what he paid for it because it's the "one ring".

Of course MR. Kur failed to mention the scandal that followed the Clintons stay onboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON during the D-Day 50th anniversary celebration. Treating the GW like a stay at the Little Rock Holiday Inn the Clinton party looted towels, robes and anything else not firmly bolted to GW's hull. Of course the White House apologized and paid for the "missing" items.

The Navy sank a Libyan LA COMBATANTTE and NANUCHKA class PG with Harpoons. The USS SIMPSON also sank the Iranian warship JOSHNAN with Harpoons. All that aside the weapon is obsolete and of little use today.

If you check your atlas I think you will find that Iraq's coastline consists of about 25 miles most of which is urban/industrial. That's not the prototypical geography for a major amphibious landing. Also if the US and Britain combined all their amphibious assets they could probably put at most 40,000 Marines on the beach. Admittedly that would be an aggravation to Saddam but 40,000 troops in an urban area 400 miles from Baghdad is not going to drive Saddam out of Baghdad in short order. I doubt that the Iraqis would even contest an amphibious assault. They will be much more concerned with an all out armor assault from Kuwait coupled with airborne assaults deep within Iraq. Not to mention those pesky allied aircraft which seem to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Also they will finally meet those mysterious individuals who have been leaving nothing but footprints in the sand for the past six months.

ANASTACIA or something like that, I can't seem to locate any of her CD's here in the house, perhaps the dog has seen fit to bury them in the backyard. Poor thing will probably never get that taste out of her mouth.

  • Why JFK (CV 67) is MIA

It's UNCLAS, it's the Board of Inspection and Survey's (INSURV) quick look report from the JFK's recent INSURV inspection. The JFK has been a pig for years (much like her namesake) however all Navy ships are required to undergo an INSURV inspection every five years, she must not have been this F***** U* in the previous inspections or she would not have made her last three deployments. On the subject of her last deployment it was an unmitigated disaster from workups to return to homeport. The JFK would probably have been broken up for scrap on a beach in India a long time ago if it wasn't named for you know who. The USS AMERICA was decommisioned six years ago and it was in a lot better shape than JFK, and no, I never served on either.

Actually INSURV inspections are a congressional mandate, every five years a bullnose to transom material inspection. I believe the Navy is the only service with this requirement levied against it. Of course until the B-1's and B-2's came along the Navy was the only service with billion dollar plus platforms in service. As an E-5, I once went through an INSURV conducted by VADM Bulkeley (CMH, NC). After the requisite inbrief the Admiral went straight to a crew berthing compartment and asked the CO if he thought he was the first CO ever to put out new bed linens in an effort to impress the INSURV team. He then went on to personnally check every plumbing fixture, every piece of galley equipment, and virtually any item he felt was critical to crew morale during the inspection. It was amazing to see the command's outlook of "nothing is wrong", change to "don't try to BS the board". Obviously I have some great memories of the legendary VADM Bulkeley and I am very pleased to say that finally I have met the namesake of a United States Navy Warship, the USS BULKELEY (DDG-84). Man could we use a few of these no-shit, the hell with politics, fighting mans Admirals right now.

The USS RUSSELL (DDG-59) does not have a helo hangar and therefore doesn't carry a LAMPS helo. The newest of the class the USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG-79)and all after have a hangar and will carry an embarked LAMPS Det. As to the SAR helos at Diego Garcia, they may be Brit SH-3 or LYNX helos. I don't remember seeing any US rotary wings there.

You are offensive and insulting to those of us with an IQ above "C" level. I have no problem with christians or pro-lifers, I do have a problem with single issue voters like yourself. It's a good thing for you and your brethren that there is no written test to vote. You and the other single digit midget IQ clique will cost the Republicans the next presidential election and then you'll have Hillary to deal with in the WH. Oh yeah, your convictions will get you Bride of Bubba as the next president, congratulations, you win. (very heavy sarcasm).

You Myopic single issue voters will be the death of this Republic. Wake up, there are a myriad of issues affecting this country's future, why must you and your ilk focus on only one. You and your cronies are Hillary's most unexpected allies in the next election. You will vote (or not vote at all) to punish any republican who doesn't pass your pro-life sniff test. Meanwhile Hillary and the Daschle-Gephart gang (the gand that couldn't shoot straight) will be running the show permitting "abortion kiosks" at the mall and you will be wondering just how this could have happened in "your" America. There are a lot of pages in your local paper I assume, try venturing out of the religion section and have a look at what's going on in the rest of the paper/world, you just might me surprised.

Just because an aircraft is at times a national asset doesn't automatically make it NSA controlled. Theater and even battle Group Commanders are often given Operational Control of these birds. Operational Control means "tasking" of the aircraft. The aircraft generally fly the same routes on the same days no matter who their masters are, kind of makes it hard for the opposition to claim it was some sort of special "spy" flight and splash it for no reason. The Iranians do the same thing, keeps the SAM shooters, CAP aircraft, and rank amateurs (yourself) from getting trigger happy. If Spencer had flown that aircraft into the South China Sea it would have put a bigger dent in our force of EP-3 aircraft (surveillance) than the crash of a B-2 would have put in our bomber fleet. The B-2 would have cost more money and made some headlines but the JCS would be wringing their hands a lot more over the loss of the EP-3 than they would the B-2..

A good friend and former student of mine is a member of the PRECOM crew, if you have any problems getting your USS RONALD REAGAN gear let me know and I'll get with my "hookup" (a Navy term near and dear to my heart, and in this case a good friend and shipmate) and make sure you get what you need.

Yank, Hope I didn't seem to be trying to correct anything you posted, I certainly wasn't. I have some experience as a member of a PRECOM Unit (USS HAYLER DD-997). Does the site you mentioned list a possible commisioning date or a location? I've heard the USS RONALD REAGAN will be headed to the left coast, and I figure the commisioning will be in the Hampton Roads area. I know that the true patriots in California will be delighted to have a ship named for a former governor and absolutely floored at the sight of the USS RONALD REAGAN pierside at North Island. The ship surely has a website and you can probably order a ships ballcap from the PRECOM unit. Now that would look good on the head of any Freeper/Patriot and help out the crew of our flagship the "USS RONALD REAGAN".
